Boosting 95 Lima ranger

Hey y’all! I’m looking to increase the power of my engine. Obviously the two ways I can go is either boosting the engine or swapping it with a v8. Although because I plan to drift the truck I don’t wanna lost my weight ratio and have a heavy v8 in the front and no weight in the back. I want to boost the engine and have looked into it but it doesn’t seem like it’s an at home doable job for your Diy’er. Has anyone paid a shop to boost their ranger with a turbo before? Specifically the 2.3l Lima engine. And if you did how much did it run you? I’m wondering how much I should save before even asking a shop.

The 2.3l Lima came with a turbo for a few years(not in Rangers) so the parts are out there just getting very hard to find

Look here: https://www.therangerstation.com/tec...ine-fuel.shtml

There are 3 articles about 2.3l to read under "turbo chargers"

You can turbo charge stock 2.3l engine but need to keep boost under 7psi, but I would keep it at 5psi max
You only know how much boost you can get away with when the engine "blows up" then you will know it was at least 1 psi less than what it was at, lol

What year is the Ranger and how many miles on the current 2.3l engine?

You are in Calif. so not sure how they will respond to a change in the engine bay

thanks ron! Currently I have around 100,000 on my engine but was really looking to invest in the forged supporting externals as well. Thanks for the response and advice hopefully I can find a engine shop to drill in the needed oil lines and etc.
