CB Radio

Well if anybody has noticed, there arent to many open places to put a cb radio in a ranger. the only place i can think of to make it still look flush is to put in on the center console. does anybody have any ideas on where to put it, what kind is the best to get and how to run the antenna. i really dont know hardly anything about cb's but i know that i want one.

I've got one in the back section of the cupholder console tilted up. It's a cobra 25 so it's fairly big, not too many spots to mount it..

Make sure to get a PA when you get your system, gotta let them bikers know to stay off the road!

where does everybody have their wires run? mine tucks under the door sill and then out under the back door through a plug in the bed. i wouldnt mind it hidden a little better outside of the cab though.

my cb is mounted on my sub box which is roughly the jack hider thing but forward about a foot.

Double post! I think you posted that in the topic I linked as well, lol...

Most all these are in that topic already. I was hoping it would answer his questions without going over this subject for the 40th time -- but silly me!

yeah, but at the same time, its a pain in the rear to change any settings, cuz i have to always be opening my console lid. i think im going to mount it to the roof like you did on your truck. did you remove your headliner? or did you just sink some self tapping screws to the roof support?

I like that a lot. Only nitpick is I wish you could slide the CB back further and make the front panel "flush" -- but I know from what's back there you can't with a unit that deep.

Nice job on the relocated heater controls!

DING-DING-DING! We have a winner!

Yes, the roof brace runs down the center. When you drill, slide some kind of sleeve over your bit so it's only an inch of so showing. That will keep you from drilling through the roof sheet metal or denting it if the drill catches. I just used a yellow crimp "butt splice" to slide over the drill for the pilot hole for the screws. It fit over the drill bit and was about the right length. Any piece of hard tubing would work, though.

one of my good friends is getting really good with fiberglass, so i might be making a new bezel for maybe a 5-6" screen and see if we can't move/relocate some of the a/c ducting and dash supports so i can sit the cb flush in the dash.

Hurry up and install that cb brenton, i wanna use mine this weekend.

I haven't done it yet, but I'm mounting mine on the pass-side rear jump seat. Probably underneath the seat, so that when the seat is up, the dials will face the center console. The base of the seat is steel plate.

For a removable unit, mount the CB on a nylon cutting board, or nice chunk of wood, and then use adjustable straps the attach board to the jumpseat.
