Yep i know what thats like. i work 5 days a week and go to school. I pay for everything. I just got new tires about a month ago, which came entirely out of my pocket. I pay for my own gas and everything that happens to go wrong, Which with these POS rangers, everything goes wrong. So nice try

back closer to topic, regardless of what was said above, 4.0's are good engines, and unlike a cummins you can find one pretty reasonable, a complete engine often under $500. after having a 3.slow I would never go back to it now that i have a 4.0. dont let people discourage u from the swap. if u want it bad enough and have the ability to do it, go for it!

I agree, the 4.0 is a great motor for what it is, will last forever if you take care of it. In my opinion tho, if you are going to go through the work of doing the swap, you might as well put in a 5.0. Gas mileage will not be much different and you will see a lot more power. I think one guy is actually in the process of doing a cab swap on a 4.0 frame on here from a 3.0, so that's doable too.

I'm 25, not that that is any of your business. And I've heard every Navy joke in the book, and I can see the humor in them. I work with the marine corps and deploy with them, so I get **** every day for being navy. Every branch has jokes about the other branches. Underdog is not out of business. I just e-mailed Wayne a couple weeks ago. Took him a couple days to respond, but he did. I think the confusion is that people ordering the 4.0 pulley kit had been on backorder for a while because of the manufacturer being delayed.

profl, how can you comoare a swap form a cummings and a 4.0??? the cummings swap could cost 6000k+ and be a lot of work, like really al ot of work considering you will need to fabric every mount for it, beef up the rear end and work on the front end and suspension so it can hold the weight of the diesel.....it is even more like a 10 grand job....while a 4.0 would fit right in whiout chaning mount or anything...geez i think he can even use the same tranny.... a cumming drop in a ranger aint no small thing

 

rofl, stop talking ignrant man. i own 3/4 ton dodge and i **** n dodge, ford is the way to go... but dont try to say a gas 4.0 will outlast a cummings, totally ridiculous.... cummings is the best diesel engine made, powerstroke have nothing on him, even deep ford guys cant refute this...cummings is 1 of the best engine of all time
