Cummin not Strokin Ranger?
Ok so this has been in my head for about 5 years now. We all see guys putting Cummins inline 6 (5.9L??) turbo Diesel engines into Ford trucks. Well I want to find a 4 Cylinder Cummins Turbo and stuff it into a Ranger. I know where to find the motors (skid steer) but I don't know if anyone would know what tranz plates they make, things of that matter. I can handle the motor mounts and wires, and computer. I just cant fabricate a tranz plate. Anyone ever think or do this before?
I don't have the motor yet, I was just asking if anyone knew if it was done. I'm still researching this, I was looking for the right Ranger first, and now I am going after a motor. Lol if I only had the money just like every project. Money money money. What tranz would you suggest? And transfer case??
there are chubby, dodge, and the illusive ford adapters. no computer it is a mechanical engine, 4 wires 1 for fuel solenoid 1 for altenator and 2 for the starter plus your grounds. the starter will not fit unless you chop a section of frame out. Also mounts you will need to fabricate yourself, or contace tennessee diesel conversions, he maybe able to make you something $$$. the linky link
check with your state on emission laws, most will say if it didnt come with a diesel option then you will fail an inspection...along with, if its older than the truck your putting it into, and if the engine displacement is larger than the factory option. i dk how Texas operates, and i know a few people from there that have conversions done to various vehicles.
answer to almost any question you have sign up and read the stickys, they are a wealth of info

Yes, in a 73-79 Ford, that's been done a lot. It's easy since the engine bays are so big. Plus they used the older generation 5.9, with less electronics
There are companys that make kits for the swap.
The only person I know that put a 5.9 in a Ranger had to extend the front end 2 inches because the engine is so long
