I haven't seen any run on Rangers. I picked up a freebie steel gas can, also got a mount from the local 4wheelparts for $20. Just have a quickie 1/8" steel cable and a lock to my bed tie-down point..just to keep the honest people honest and from someone just walking away with a $45 gas can.

So he went back to the same area with some bleach water in the can and some gasoline on top so it would still smell like gas.
Got stolen again. I'm pretty sure the thief learned their lesson. I wonder how much $$$ it cost them to get the fuel system replaced including the tank, because if that bleach sat on brass or steel for any decent amount of time it was well corroded.
No lie. I know someone who had 5gal of gas stolen out of the back of his truck.

No room under, and the hi-lift is going on the front of the box...
I see a Jeep a day pretty much running a similar can on it. The thing is empty 95% of the time unless I'm going on a far trip or an extended wheelin' trip. I doubt many are going to fuss with getting an empty can..

Sorry, but i don't live in fear of what people "can" do. People can hit and run, key your truck, steal your radio, steal your truck, steal your wheels, slash your tires break into your house, mug you, kill you, steal your idenity, at any moment. Because i have a gas can in my truck doesn't mean it's going to get vandalized over it. My lights, whip, etc are out there too.
People run around out here with two full size spares just strapped down in their bed. With about $600 worth of wheels and tires just sitting there. Still there...Not saying people don't steal stuff, just luck of the draw...can't live in fear.
Can stays, it's been in the bed for about 3 weeks now. So will the full size spare on a aluminum american racing wheel i'm going to have in the bed.
I have more problems if that can gets hit hard enough from the rear to ignite it and cause a fire lol. Have you guys never seen jeeps that run cans back there by the spare tire? Must be hundreds out here!
That is about the only place then. I have two plastic jerry cans that I used when going home from college because gas was like 50 cents more a gallon if I stopped in the little towns in the middle.
Also used for one offroading trip

I've seen them. It's a good idea to have one, I was just tossing a thought out there.
i like where it is at personally. i have my hilift mounted to my tool box like you were describing. i bought the expensive mounts that 4wheel parts sells and i love where it is at. i will dig up a pic real quick
