Heads up Display?

anyone know if it is possible to hook up a heads up display aka HUD like they have in Z06 corvettes, BMW, cadillac or some Pontiac GTP's?.. it shows the vehicles speed/ RPM on a digital screen projected to the front windshield..? thought it would be a cool idea..if u havent seen um check it out

If you're an electrical engineer I'm sure you could rig something up. I can't say I know of anyone who has even made a serious attempt. Big factors that jump to mind initally are the slant of the windshield (will affect the focus and placement of the display on the winshield) and also the cost of the unit to begin with: i can't imagine that it is cheap. Another issue that jumps to mind would be actually mounting it in your dash. you'd probably have to hack it up pretty well and move around alot of wires. It's pretty crowded behind the gauge cluster! You may also run into issues regarding the different ways the information is transmitted between brands. I don't know much about it myself, but I'd imagine maybe if the systems use standard OBDII ports to transfer the information to the HUD you might be able to pull it off. It would be awesome, it would be expensive, and it would be very difficult I'd imagine. if you're planning on trying this out, do your research and do NOT go into this project assuming it would be an easy bolt-in ordeal
