Homemade Cai.

Home made cold air intake

All you need is half of a filter housing from a donor and the filter itself. It breaths alot easier now.

Welcome to the forum

But.....................exactly how is that a COLD AIR intake if its pulling in air from INSIDE the engine bay?

The stock Ranger air system pulls in air from in front of the rad support, so from behind the grill, a true CAI, also had 200% air flow filter

Its a nice looking unit, so good work on that part, but you need to box that filter and use the hole in rad support to feed it cooler air

I left it open so it can pull air from below as well . The way it sits now it's drawing cooler air from around the frame. The set up you propose sounds more like ram air.

If you look at the rad support you will see the hole for the cold air and on the front side it has a splash plate to prevent rain/water intrusion, so not "ram air" just cold air

Most all OEM designs draw cold air, and the open element filter designs that K&N love to sell people on are just misleading.

It's got some nice ingenuity about it, but without actually verifying IATs, you're postulating that it will by location just draw cooler air in.
