they replace stock hinges.
Im not a fan of the UDP ones as the limit access from the sides to the engine. I soppose you could use the prop rod and remove the pistons if you needed the room.

fyi the pic is of an explorer check the cowl/wipers
i need a new hood and was thinking of doing the edge swap. Maybe the quick lifts are a better choice.
