Icon9 I need ideas for trim...

okay so someone backed into me while i was camping and did almost $5K in damage... my truck is fixed not but the black molding i had on fell off after the body shop put it on

I thought my gold truck looked better without the black molding on the side of it haha

well now that i pulled it all off i noticed that the previous owner must have put it on to cover up the bubbled paint and the line (scraped in/ must have been done with a tool its perfectly strait but not pretty!)

so i need some new ideas of what kind of trim would look good on my truck, where i could get it, and what kind of a price im looking at!

This is my truck with the molding

This is my truck after i took it off (I think it looks cleaner)

P.S. the curve seen in the pictures is the curve in most of the doors (its a 2003 XLT) just for a refference of how far down it is from the door

those bubbles were probably cause by the moulding and the moisture that got stuck under it all those years. you can put something else on, but the only way to get rid of it is to sand it off and repaint.

Id leave them off, but i have paint hook ups so thats me. Paint work can get expensive, but at least think about it. I like the truck lots more without the moulding too

Almost looks to me like there was a rocker repaint in the past....that molding was put on to cover the line that they couldn't blend it in properly.

yeah i kinda thought they had repainted or somethin along those lines...

but i also think its too deep to just buff the line out... and i really dont have anything to get the door sanded or repainted...

thats why i was going to look for a cheaper way to fix it! so do you know of any trim that is either color matched (like a body kit or somethin) or something that you think would look good? (as you can see i have chrome all over the place!) haha

thanks alot guys

yeah i'm pretty sure thats what they did because the lines are WAY to strait for it to be anything else

but the real question is what do you guys think would look good on it? because i dont know how much it would be to repaint the side (probably a little pricey) but i know that they have either chrome panels that would cover or any other type of panel...

what do you guys think would look the best for my truck?

You could always paint (color-match) the molding, and then it would not be so noticeable.

Or you could line-x the rockers like Mikey did to his truck, and leave the moulding off.

Honestly, if it were me, I'd start saving for a lower bodyline down respray. Whomever did it before you really did a half *** job. Who knows....you could probably learn bodywork by doing all the prep, have Earl Sheib or whatever paint just that lower rocker....maybe change the shade of it a little bit to give it a contrasting look...idk. Or...see if any family members or friends know anybody who does bodywork/paintwork that'll cut you a good deal. It's amazing the kind of hookups you can have by just talking around.

Dont they offer body side mouldings for the new trucks? How about going to the dealer and getting those? They arent my style, but they are color matched and look better than the black mouldings you have now.
