jump seat mod??

well on my 92 ext cab the jump seats fold into the body and in a small downward motion. now would it be possible to mod it to make the jumpseat to fold down and up against the back panel?? the reason why i want to do this is to possible use the space from the old jump seat location and put a sub in.

you could aways just get rid of the seats all together. since the max age that can comfortably fit is like 5 and under

lol i could but most of the people i hang with are 5'5 and smaller so space isnt much of an issue lol and im 5'11", i have few friends that are same height. but rarely come in the truck cuz they just got theyre licneses. but i was thinking about that too, jus taking everything out and putting like 3-4 sub and 2 amps back there.

You wouldnt be able to use your jump seats from the back wall because they would have to fold straight out. I don't think anyone can sit in that seat facing forward. It might be possible to get the newer style jump seats that fold out from the back wall.

why not?? they fold the same way as they newer seats they just fold out differently, mine fold out and down and newer ones down up, the only difference is the location of the hinges...if i could fab some bracket up so it swings down and up like the newer ones then it should still work the same shouldnt it?

my hinges are located on the bottom of the seat, the newer ones have the hings on the side of the seat so if i wast switch mine around like the new one i dont c why it wouldnt work.

on my buddies 96 we just installed the subs behind the seat in the open space, you just have to bolt the seats in place. heres the only picture i have.

it worked out really good, sounds great too. the only real downside is the seats only fold down they don't fold up and out of the way, but its no big deal.

Hey mikerider i like that sub idea, when i got my truck it didnt come with those seats (i do have an ext. cab) guess im lucky becuase there is 0 room in the back as it is with all my stuff.. hey if you can , tell me what i would have to do to make that happen.. i want that set up. and are the same measurements the same in my 94 to that truck in the picture? it's probably simple, but i just want to make sure it will work before i start buying stuff.

Heres my setup. I left one jump seat in so I can only take one person back there. I'm 5'11" also and I have one click left in the seat and its reclined pretty well.

they make prefabbed ABS boxes that go in there. I think MTX makes it.

MTX doesn't I just checked, but I would like to know who does, because I have a dog (black lab) and I can't loose the space in the back.

just fiberglass something. pull the whole seat out. do a MDF front to sit flush with the opening. fiber behind it, inside the well. built-in, stealth enclosure.

mmh.. I wonder how hard it would be to install the newer style jumpseats found in the 4-dr Rangers. Does anyone have a pic of how the bracket looks like and to where is bolted on?
If that can be done, then I can install a sub and still have the room where the other old jumpseat was for the jack, jumper cables, etc and could still seat 2 people back there.

way to copy my idea!!! lol jks me and buddy already started that on my truck, i think if u read up the first post thats what i was first asking about, the only tricky part is getting the right space for the sub, so i figure that if u build a normal box to specs for a 10 or 12" sub in my case then use that material to build the box in the space of the seat. Im gonna post a how to thread on it so whoever wants the space and the sub they can read and copy.
