Just want some opinions/ btw im new lol.
I just want some opinions on my ideas for my truck..
My truck is a 2000 Ford Ranger Xlt. Single cab 3.0 flex 2wd 5spd manual.
Yes you all may be laughing now but I like it.
I spent 4 grand on it with like 70k miles.
I don't want to buy another truck because any that are decent that I'd want are like 10grand.
So I figured why not work on this one a little more..
I'm just kinda tired of the 2wd street look. oh and it doesn't work well with nebraska winters. lol
I just want it looking a little beefier and better for winter/ just to have fun with.
The girlfriend doesn't want me to get toooo wild and get huge lift kit or nothing big.
I'm thinking just
1.little body lift/ leveling kit. minimal maybe 3in or so at the most.
2.different rims (only having 3 matching american racing rims and cant go black gf dont like that with my paint job)
3.bigger tires like well 30/31 a/t i guess, from what i understand thats about as big as i can go.
4. westin bull guard with 2 kc daylighters and the license plate relocation bracket. (so no tickets)
thats all i really can think of now.
If anyone can give me some opinions n such on this would be great!
thanks alot!
Curt

I have a one inch lift on mine. it makes it sit taller than other rangers on the road, with BFG Allterrains about 2 inchs bigger than stock (i forgot what that size is exactly, i think like 34's on stock rims)
I also have a different set of rims for the summer, they are actually 2006 ranger rims that i've rounded out the center hole for the 4x4 hub and it makes the truck look a whole lot better.
I think your truck would look great with a small lift and bigger tires on and the Black rims would make it pop.

i only spent like 200 bucks. if you can't find a one inch body lift kit, which i hear is hard for some people? just spring for the two inch, and it that dosen't look all that well, cut the bushings in half. or you could get leveling coils, they should be a bit cheaper and a bit easier to do then bushings.

it sounds like you know what you want already. if your gonna go larger in tires. you'll need to re gear and it might be easier to swap rear axles. you should have a 7.5 and the 8.8 is stronger. they usually come with 3.73s or 4.10s. the latter would be good for 31s.
also i'd look at a limited slip or locker device since you've got a 4 banger. it'll help.
there are other options out there for a bull guard. you just have to look.
lastly, there isn't much middle ground for the GF and truck negotiations. good luck.

well see the thing is. because my truck is more of a "street" truck here are my current tires..
Front : 235/70r15 102s
Back : 275/60r15 107s
now with my current tires the rear tires are wider. if i got new tires on the mismatched rims, would the rear still be wider? or could i get them the same width as the front? i dont know if the rims are wider. im not a rim/wheel guru. lol
well my rear end is an 8.8 i believe. Its got the visible hump in the cover. I can run outside to get the axle code to make sure. i thought i looked it up at one time and it was 3.73's i think but let me grab it quick..
Axle code : 86
Open 7.5 with 3.73 is what it says.
and i know the gf just doesnt want black rims with the purpleish/blue paint job. well neither do i tho lol.
if i want a big lift kit she wants me to get a BIG truck lol.

****, i thought you had a 4 banger. i missed that. you could have a 8.8. you don't have to go super big. 3" body and 31s will put you 4" higher.
i'd get either a new set of rims or replace that missing one. i don't know what the width is of those but it's a 3 spoke right? those are decent looking imo. finding a 4th could be cheaper then a whole set

nope its the v6. it says open 7.5 but i always thought that the hump on the axle cover/girdle meant 8.8 but i guess i could be mistaken..
yeah its a 3 spoke basically. i would have to find a heavily used 4th because the other 3 are very worn/chipped worn chrome. and it wouldnt look any better with a newer 4th rim lol.
i have messaged a guy from craigslist that has 5 rims of litterally the same rims as i have and are all the same size. so i was just planning on picking them up and putting the new a/t tires on them and leaving my summer tires on these **** rims. save about 300 buck from buying brand new rims.

Opinions on beefy looking tires?
all terrain/mud terrain?
I was reading up and muds arent good on ice?
is this true or not?
I do also do about 60miles of highway driving about 5 days aweek.
and All terrains are better for that if im right.
so what are your opinions on them? what would look better?
below is the rims i should be getting. used but that doesnt bother me much.
i just need some opinions.
money isnt much of a factor but i dont want to go outrageous here.
thanks alot!
oh and should i lock my rear end? lol buddy says id get in more trouble on ice we have with a locked rearend.

I got the 2 that needed to be replace replaced with some Wrangler Authority A/Ts just for the time being.
Now any ideas on how to jack up the rear end. when its too cold for the jack to hold the pressure under the weight of the truck? and other ideas on how to get the jack to even reach the rear axle. the bricks i had just crumbled under the weight. and i have no 4x4 blocks lol.
damnit winter.
