There's other things you can do. Clean the MAF SENSOR (warning; use the correct cleaner or you'll ruin it). Disassemble the throttle butterfly valve, and decarbon the idle bypass circuit, and EGR valve. Check for vacuum leaks, using smoke. Replace rubber vacuum tubing and plugs.

I average 300-320 miles to a full tank (20 gallons) in the mountains of NC and a little better when I drive back home

 

after a 559mile trip, I averaged at 13.5mpg, with my 33s

 

Anyone use acetone in their gas?

Back when I had my 98 4x4 4.0 5 spd the best I ever got was just under 19mpg on the highway.. So I'd say you're doing well already

 

i used acetone. works more as a really strong fuel injector cleaner. use roughly 300ml in a 70 liter tank. do not use every tank full. every third tank only. the improvement depends on how dirty your fuel system is. if you use every tank full has the potential to damage fuel system components. improves gas mileage in my 4 liter ranger by 10% when i use it. do not use more than the amount i mentioned above. adding more does not make it work better. not recommended until you do normal required maintenance on your vehicle first.
