painting

definitely not a new idea...i want to paint my bezel, and ive searched without finding what im looking for. i found some vinyl and dash paint at work today, and i really dont know much about painting auto stuff. do i primer that with the spray primer??? do i primer at all? basically i need a how to.

buff, primer, color, clear if recomended(depends), let dry, install

usually we use Krylon rattle can stuff...with some clear coat

Best thing to use is is a plastic primer,we use a product called "Bull Dog",comes in a spray...I used it on the front valance panel and no flaking/peeling

okay... im defnitely gonna do it now, but do i need to take off the dash off to get the bezel off? any advice? how about the door panels? i wanna do those too.

I'm not sure if urs is the same on the bezel(i have an 01)...but there should be 2 screws under the radio and above the AC...take those out and it should pull out...as for the door panels...im pretty sure ours arent the same....
suggestions on the painting.....
SAND IT DOWN REALLY REALLY GOOD! make sure it's VERY smooth! get some really light grit and go at it a while... i think barrman(sp) did a writeup on it....look at his...he knows what he's talkin about!

what about the rubbery kinda coating thats on there ? mine has started ot peel off from repetitive use of the cig lighter so i want to paint it sonic blue ... how hard is it to get off ?

most people just sit and pick at it for a few days and it comes off....

Belive it or not,I used a local do it yourself car wash presure washer,mine had a few places peeling and that was my starting point........just make sure you hold it down good and not with your bare hands(ouch)

get the clear coat spray also so when ur done spraying the color and it dries u can spray the clear coat and it will shine like the paint on ur truck

what is wet sanding exactly... im in the process of getting this crap off... and im trying to figure out what i need to do the get this crap off faster.

I did this yesterday and had the same peeling issue - I actually had to use a harsher grit to get it off. When all was done - it turned out pretty damn cool.
