Pre-runner fenders on street truck?
Pre-runner fenders on street truck?
So my next project will be a 2wd ranger with a 2.3 Turbo motor. I was thinking about how cool it would be to lighten up the truck with some fiberglass fenders and then I remembered that they make a lot of fiberglass pre-runner fenders for rangers. How cool would it look with those fenders front and back on a lowered 2wd ranger with wide wheels and tires?
He was talking about a 2.3T not a NA 2.3. The 2.3T would make better hp/tq then any other motor in the rangers. Not to mention that have been around a few decades and are very reliable even with high boost.
the 2.3L's torque output isn't very far from the 3.0
im about to make my truck 4wd, ill let you know how that works out.
i see jeeps with 4bangers running around on 35's all the time, weird.

you have no idea what the 4cyl's are capable of.

OMG..
And adding a transfer case brings more drivetrain loss on all that non-existent to begin with torque...

it would look dumb! look at the front end pics of my truck with 6" wide fiberglass fenders, stock rims and 10.5 wide tire.. AND thats with the front track width at 73".... doesnt fill the fenders at all... its a little better now with different offset rims
lol, ok....I couldnt see it in my head.
This is not going to be a 4x4 because it's going to be a street truck.....I already have my 4x4. A 2.3 trubo motor can make tons of hp cheap and with a light 2wd short box ranger, the truck will move. There are guys running easy 11's and 12's in the 1/4 with the stock shortblock and head......and this is in a heavy turbo coupe. Not every truck needs to be a 4x4.....lol

I would like to see what a photo chop of this would look like. If you are looking for speed and power stuff, with the flares it could be a good road race look. but like I said a photo chop is in order. another option is to maybe add the fender flares like those they had on the 80's model "dually" rangers they my made. if you had a 83-88 and put those front and rear with some creative fiberglass work they could pull that look.
just a thought.
