Sunroof?

I have been thinking about putting a sunroof in my ranger this summer. I was wondering if any their worth it and to see if you all have some pictures of sunroofs in your rangers? Also have you had any problems with them like leaking?

Thats a thread on RPS where a guy put a Explorer power sunroof in his Ranger. I saw one on Craigslist a little while ago, I can't find the pics though. Should of saved them.

Just kidding I found one pic:

Sweet thanks I like that one, the ones im looking at just simply pop out a bit, or you can just take the glass out completely and store it in a case.

Hum, I'm sure its possible you just have to find a way to reinforce the Ranger roof, to install a sunroof you have to cut out the main roof support. Anythings possible with time and money.

Yeah, I'd like to see some pics myself. I would love to have a sunroof in the Splash. Anyone have any? Are there actually sunroofs that come all the way out like a T-Top or something?

Haha I agree, for a simple pop-up I don't think it would be that bad but you would have to have decend fabrication skills and a set of iron ***** to do it yourself. Cut a hole in the roof, make a bracket, reinforce the roof, make a trim plate for the headliner and seal everything up and repaint the roof. It would defn. be a project.

yeah, I'm thinkin' take it to town, pay around 350 for a 19" pop up. At least that is the estimate I got from a lady here in KY. It would just be nice to here some stories from those who may have them...ya know...see if they like them or not.

Sounds like a good plan. Keep us updated on the sunroof thing, I'm interested on how it turns out cost wise.

My '99 has a pop up sunroof... paperwork in the truck indicated was a dealer installed item, and it does leak a drop or so every now and then... probably would be ok if i took it out and silicone lubed the weatherstripping. Only thing i hate about mine is there is no shade to cover it up with... absolutely hate that part. I am going to see about having it tinted as dark as possible when i get the back windows done... not sure if it will work to tint as it has a kind of dot matrix imprinted all over it, but sure dont cut down on the sun enough. If worse comes to worse, I'll just spray paint the darn thing to match the interior i guess. And the wind turbulence is terrible with it open and the windows down... better off with a back slider window, which I am looking into getting also.

dont spray paint it. just buy some sticker vinyl and cover it. that way if you ever want, you can remove it just as easily. buy it from a sign shop.

Great Idea!... been racking my brain trying to figure out something ... I don't know if it ever had a cover for the inside or now... i doubt it.... but it can be really a pain in the summer with the sun shining straight down in it. And I can't find any info about the company that made it, the only thing identifying it says "SUNTEK" I believe, and that place is out of business or bought out.
