Thats a thread on RPS where a guy put a Explorer power sunroof in his Ranger. I saw one on Craigslist a little while ago, I can't find the pics though. Should of saved them.

Haha I agree, for a simple pop-up I don't think it would be that bad but you would have to have decend fabrication skills and a set of iron ***** to do it yourself. Cut a hole in the roof, make a bracket, reinforce the roof, make a trim plate for the headliner and seal everything up and repaint the roof. It would defn. be a project.

My '99 has a pop up sunroof... paperwork in the truck indicated was a dealer installed item, and it does leak a drop or so every now and then... probably would be ok if i took it out and silicone lubed the weatherstripping. Only thing i hate about mine is there is no shade to cover it up with... absolutely hate that part. I am going to see about having it tinted as dark as possible when i get the back windows done... not sure if it will work to tint as it has a kind of dot matrix imprinted all over it, but sure dont cut down on the sun enough. If worse comes to worse, I'll just spray paint the darn thing to match the interior i guess. And the wind turbulence is terrible with it open and the windows down... better off with a back slider window, which I am looking into getting also.

Great Idea!... been racking my brain trying to figure out something ... I don't know if it ever had a cover for the inside or now... i doubt it.... but it can be really a pain in the summer with the sun shining straight down in it. And I can't find any info about the company that made it, the only thing identifying it says "SUNTEK" I believe, and that place is out of business or bought out.
