Swing Away Spare Tire Carrier

Hey friends. So I have a 94 4.0 with the U style spare tire mount. It is more than a hassle to get a 31" tire down there, because the frame gets in the way. I had to deflate my spare just to get it in. What good is that?? I have a topper with a nice ladder rack and cargo basket, and have had my spare up there for a good while but my offroading with the dang spare on top actually broke my rack, so I'm looking for an alternative.

Plus I am planning on putting 33"s on her soon.

Has anyone put a Bronco I swing away tire carrier on their ranger? I am looking at some Bronco I swing aways, obviously I know there would be some fabricating involved, but I am wondering if this is doable. I am not trying to spend 800 on a wilco offroad hitch, but would definitely consider cheaper hitch mounts, if I could find one that would work. Open to a swing away, or a swing down spare.

Ive been looking, this looks like the only reasonable option I've found..

If you guys have any suggestions or input, it would be greatly appreciated!!

Anything is possible with enough time, money, and fabrication. I'd look at how the carrier is mounted on the bronco and replicate it on the ranger as best as possible.

I feel you man, I'm just not trying to give up an arm and a leg for a full size spare not in my bed. But I think a swing down spare off of the tow receiver from the link in my original comment would be the most economical.. as long as the tailgate would be free to swing all the way down.

Although.. a Bronco carrier would look badass AF in my opinion.

If you're talented with a welder, there's nothing stopping you from making your own carrier. Could be made from steel/iron pipes or thick strip steel and welded together. Pipes would probably be easiest. Not to mention it would probably be cheap, too.

If you have a way to cut it, the studded end of an axel out of a rear diff with the same bolt pattern could be used to secure the wheel as it would be on all four corners.

As I look at it now, I am Probably going to go with the plan in the link I posted... Too easy, plus its its cheap. Even with the hitch, I'm looking at less than 300. If the tailgate doesn't lay down all the way, can always get an extension to push it out a few more inches. Plus I will be stoked to tow my boat not on the bumper.

Looks like an easy enough solution.
