Switched power source

I was wondering if you could put a switched power source for aux lighting so you don't run down the vehicle battery if you have lights on and the truck not running. Could I have an aux power source that I could flip a switch so the lights would pull from that rather than the vehicle battery? I was thinking something rechargable, but didn't even know if it was fallible or even worth the effort.

I know the green/orange behind the drivers side dash panel is used for switched power on the domelight, you might be able to use that for aux lighting also.

if you are using that method^^ then you will need a relay that has a fused power source off the battery....that wire wont be able to handle the extra load......well either way you should use a relay...

Yeah i figured if hes using a switch he'd run a relay anyway. Better safe than sorry.
