train horn mounting options

i'm thinking about getting the hammer 4 train horns, and need an opion on where to mount them... i thought about behind the front bumper since there is alot of room there, but i am afraid of setting off the air bag the first time i use them... the dimensions on the horns measure out at 6" tall 7" wide, and 15" long

i know its a small tank at 2 liters, but i don't want anything real hardcore, just something to blast at the occasional azzhat that decides to cut me off, and to scare people when i go mall crawling... i was thinking a switch like this to turn the compressor on and off

IMO I wouldn't waste the $ on that kit. That compressor looks cheap as hell and that tank is beyond tiny.

That horn won't get you a train horn like sound, especially with that tank/compressor.

RSW, I like the horns.Good job. I think they look better than Korey's...wait. *scratches his head* Where are his again?

SVT, the horns will be good, and sufficient for what you wanna use em for. I had a different set on mine mounted behind the stock bumper on my '97, and they did the trick. Nice switch/mini panel. Keep up posted on the progress...

Billy (Casper98) has his hammer4's mounted on the outside frame rail, passenger side, infront of the wheel well. I have no pics.

You don't want to skimp on the compressors. Billy's always rebuilding his. I just recently installed a Viair 380...soon duals....and ALOT of people run viair's.....not only for horns, but air suspension and on-board air. Been VERY VERY happy with my compressor....TrePaul86 also runs 380's. The best affordable compressors.

Switch locations.....

Where you going to mount that panel? Drill a big fat hole on your dash? WowMike2001 has a GREAT! hidden location for his driving lights. I'd post it, but don't know if he wants it 'secret'. lol.

Idea on the push button...courtesy of my truck...

i'm gonna built a little box for that panel, and mount it on near the shifter, and i'm eventually gonna get a better compressor

good to hear. so many oregon members with loud azz horns....and more wanting to do it! nice.

I kinda went off there for a second on a compressor...that's the one area that always need improvement over what comes in the 'kits'. let it fail once, then get a bad **** one. like a viair.
