I just changed my oil for the 1st time and put in Castrol edge. New truck is 2010 4.0. Old was 2002 3.0. I remember seeing a thread on how messy it was to chang the 3.0 oil but I made the biggest spill today with the 4.0. Maybe just not sure of where to line up the drain pan with the plug on the side rather than the rear of the pan. And wasn't much better with the filter. Had the 3.0 down pat.

I use Syntec 5W30. Some say it's good, some say it's bad. Seems to work for me! Got a good deal on some at Walmart the other day... they had jugs of it for $12! It's normally like $30 here!

I think i am going to go with mobil 1 5w-30 with their filters. I am going to do a good seafoming with my old oil tho. Hope to clean out my engine a bit. Anyone experience and cons with this oil?

Why don't you guys set up some sort of window prompt before a new thread is created that says......"have you tried searching the topic your about to post?" in crazy neon fonts. Meh?

Nothing but Mobil 1. 5-30 EP. Good for 15,000 miles. I've got 251,000+ miles on the odometer with no internal repairs. Don't bother with Seafoam or other cleaners. The Mobil will clean things up.

Mobile 1 10w30 / PureOne .... But I don't have the temperature fluctuations that most of you do..
If I lived up north it would still be Mobile 1 maybe a 5w30

I use generic discount store full synthetic. Much cheaper than the name brands so I can change it regularly without going broke. I'm too much 'old school' to run anything close to a 15K synthetic change interval. I usually run 5W30 in winter, 10W40 in summer in the Ranger and 5W20 in the Focus and Fusion year round.

For filters, I use Purolator or Motorcraft.

Valvoline Conventional then Synthetic Blend. I've only changed the oil twice and that's what I used. When I bought it my dad had Castrol GTX put in it at a shop. I just do the recommended oil type on the core support sticker. I think it changed in 2003 or something though. They all ran fine but my engine has a tick from the DPO so I just nurse it and drive it.
