I like the idea of a 4.6 swap. I keep telling my dad I'm gonna steal the motor out of his crown vic to put in the ranger.

I've heard that they're alot wider motor, though.
My problem is the 5.0 and 4.6 have a different bellhousing bolt pattern, which is why I'm more than likely limited to an aode and 4r70w. I can't find anything that ran a regular aod behind a mod motor.

They are very wide, thats why I have all the a/c + blower motor housing removed. I might have to remove the brake booster as well.

Awesome Jey. I must say I was hoping for a 347 though... I have one in the Mustang and its Fawking awesome! Tons of power and torque. But the 4.6 should be just fine for what you are doing. Im pumped for you dude!

Got the new engine. It's complete from the air box to the exhaust manifolds (even injectors/wiring harness etc).

Going to do a leak down and i'm leaning towards it not even having a blown head gasket. (It ran hot once, cooled down overnight and driven to a shop and did not run hot that day before it was pulled).

I'm leaning towards it just had low coolant or a bad water pump.

When I get it stripped down/cleaned I'll take some pictures.

It's on hold until I get the new drivetrain assembled/mounted etc. If it's significantly longer I won't be able to use the crossmember I have tacked in right now.

nice that you have the drivetrain now. hopefully you dont run into length problems. thatd be a setback, but atleast the suspesion isn't fully setup.

Might tear into the motor tomorrow, so If I get around to it I'll throw up some pictures. I need to pull the heads because the previous owner said it ran hot once, towed it to a shop, the shop had to add alot of water and the "tech" said anytime a 4.6 runs hot it will blow a head gasket.

So we'll see if theres any truth behind it. I'm going to replace a few things on it anyways (oil pump, water pump, all gaskets).

Between customer work, the race car, and side jobs I've been running out of spare time as of late.

Not making too much progress since we have very little time to get our car finished and out testing for V2R.

On a more positive note, I now have all of my heims, went with QA1's.

Well I'm going to scrap the nissan. Don't feel like buying a 700$ reman short block for a 600$ truck. So we got to work early this morning and ****ed the truck up with our forklift.

Then I got the 4.6 on the engine stand. Not much progress but it's a start. I'm gonna pull the pan and check the bearings then do a leak-down to decide if I want to tear into it or not.
