Decided to create a log for my truck. Ive had my ranger a number of years now, it was actually my first vehicle I purchased so it has some sentimental value attached to it. Its been through a bunch of changes over the years and has allowed me to learn how to work on vehicles in the process. Check out the pictures below. Il also attach some of the youtube videos Ive made.
This is how she looked the day I pick her up
How the truck looked when the previous owner had it
Most recently Ive pretty much got the interior looking how I want it. I made a youtube video going into more detail about each change, Il link it here https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=DigPDFR787c&t=12s
What the interior was like when I bought the truck, painted radio bezel, rips and stains in the seats, dirty carpet.. You get the point lol
That's a truely good looking truck; well done.
That "temporary" wooden bed has a certain nostalgic appeal.
Thanks! It turned out to be on there a little longer than I expected but when I found that stepside bed at the junkyard I sure was happy. Definitely got a lot of stares with the flatbed though lol
What's the Make+Model for those aftermarket HeadLamp fixtures?
How do you like them as night compared to the stock fixtures?
Those are 1 piece spyder halo headlights. The light output seems better than stock but theyre expensive lights so youd have to decide if its really worth it for you. Im thinking of making a 2 yr review video on them talking a bit more in depth about my experience with them.
I knew the stepside bed currently on the truck had some holes in the floor so I removed it to see how bad it was. Turns out 2 on the cross braces were rotted out along with the holes. I have a 36" brake but the cross braces are 39" long so I have to make them in 2 pieces and weld them together. I know some people go to a shop with a big press brake to have them made but that would probably cost a lot more.
Rust! Half made and 2 patches will be made for the floor
Well I ended up getting a DJM 4/5 lowering kit with the shocks included from someone locally. Finished installing one side on the front end along with new bearings, rotor, pads, painting the caliper and the frame. Definitely a much needed refresh
Decided to make a video series on my djm 4/5 install along with bearings, rotors and pads. Here is the first video of mainly the disassembly, also finished up the bed crossmembers and il post some pictures of those below too
Well just got finished with Part 2 of the DJM 4/5 Drop series Im making. Took a lot of time to clean up and paint the front end parts Il be reusing.
Also cleaned and painted the frame and calipers. It always bugs me putting new parts on an area that looks like crap. Next up is reassembly!
Finished up Part 3 and the last part in the front end refresh and djm install
Turned out great and love the quality and fit of all parts in the kit. Took my ground to fender distance from 32 inches down to 27 inches.
I assume the added 1 inch drop in the front was from the coil spring spacer I didnt know the previous owner had installed. Probably explains why
the truck rode like crap.. I always thought it was because of the body lift but Im sure that didnt help either. On to the next project Im excited to start, a little tailgate custom.
Been working on a new project Ive had stored away a while. Ive seen this done before a few times and have always loved it. Frenching is an older gen tailgate skin into a new gen tailgate.
Below are some progress pictures, I also made a video showing the way I went about doing this project. Im sure theres a lot of ways to do this, this is just the way I chose.
Loving that classic touch to the tailgate. You do some impressive work.
I love the classic look too, I think some more classic taillights might be in the future as well, havent decided yet though. And thanks for the kind words
