how much did it cost you to the rear brakes bleed at the dealer? I think I might just take it out and splice the lines together.

 

got the perches welded up. Next things to do are hook up the parking brake cable, install rear shocks, and figure something out for a rear driveshaft..

Well I ended up using a ranger drive shaft and its at the shop right now being cut and balanced. Today I took the spare tire carrier off(they got some weight to them) and I installed my CB radio.

Took it for its first real test drive today! Drove pretty damn good, which makes me happy. It still has some ***** with them 35" tires which is cool. Need to trim the fenders alittle bit. i rubbed the bumper pretty good when turning tight. Anybody ever try spacing the front bump forward as opposed to cutting it? I the bumper is in perfect shape and i dont want to have to cut it.

 

I have heard of spacing the bumper instead of cutting it. Some guys over on FSB.com have done it. I just personally don't like the looks of a spaced bumper...makes it look like it has a fat lip. haha

 

Turned out great. Can't wait to see some action pics!!

Yeah I ended up just adjusting the bumper out as far as I can and then trimmed it abit. Id say I have about $1400 in to it, thats the lift, axles, lockers, gears, hubs, steering system, wheels, tires and what not.

No wheelin yet. I still need to do a full fender cutting job, hope to do that this weekend. Also I could really use an add a leaf in the rear.

Front bumper looks perfect where its at!

 

Took it out for the first time in the woods last night. Didn't get to do a whole lot since it was late and pouring rain so no pics either. But damn this thing wheels good!

One issue I had was when I was on my way out there going about 60mph. The motor developed i loud valve tap. So I pulled over and checked the oil and it was good. Bye the time I got to the woods it went away just as fast. I'm wondering if im having a oil pump problem?

 

you should body lift it instead of cutting it and put a manual tcase in trust me the best mod i have ever done in my truck

 

I dont want a body lift, since i want to keep the center of gravity down. I'm going to to wheelin this thing pretty hard and i want to keep the shiny side up. I will do a manual t-case when this one breaks or I come across one for a really good deal.

I wouldn't worry about the valve tap. My old 90 b2 did the same thing but ran awsome. Its common of the 2.9s to "tick".

Yeah the conclusion I came to from research was that 2.9 tick and not to worry about. lol

 

Small update..

Ive done a few things to over the last few months and have been wheelin it. Gave it a full tune up and put in an add a leaf kit. The add a leaf kit added like 6" at first, but has since settled to about 3". Motor is hanging in there.. makes lots of noises but holds oil pressure for the most part.

Also got my first bit of breakage, drive side axle shaft.

 

Were you using it hard when the axle broke? I beat the **** out of mine everytime I go out and I cant believe I havent broke one yet....or that sorry excuse for a rear driveshaft.

 

yeah that rear driveshaft is a POS... i have went through two of them so now it will sit til i can afford one of those GKN replacement styles
