rockauto.com they're the best
haha no v8. its too much work in a 2004. If i kept that 98 i had for a few months it would already be done! you should drop one in the green truck you have sitting in the side yard. (can't remember if you said the frame is bad or what)

Thems some well worn tools dude.
Mine are all red, you know, the REAL snap on color.
With those pictures, I can assume you did the lower joint first.
Quick step by step:
Go get yourself a Ball joint press kit. (the thing used in the third picture)
You have to take the knuckle off of the truck, You need to get both ball joint nuts loose, Tire rod nut, and the bearing nut (which requires taking apart the hub) Which i don't recall how to do at the moment. But i'm sure it has something to do with fishing a small c-clip out of a tiny effin hole.
once the knuckle is removed, you get that ball joint press kit and fit it like so, using the hollow tube on the bottom (it should be the same width or just under the width of the ball joint) then using an impact (or breaker bar) on the top part of the press, you spin that sucker down until the ball joint pops out.
To install the bottom ball joint, you can use the press kit again, or i sometimes will grab a 4x4 post and support the lower arm with it, take the hollow tube (or socket) from the press kit and use a BFH on it until it goes in all the way.
doing the top requires an impact. the bolts that hold the bushings into the UCA (upper control arm) are a pain in the *** to get out other wise.
You need to loosen the bolts, wrestle the UCA out, replace with new UCA and reinstall bolts.

and getting the hub off doesn't require any c-clip. its 1 axle nut....

lol they're filthy but theyre all less than a year old. UCA bolts can come out easily with a ratchet and you don't need to "wrestle them out" they come right out. most people on here, if they have an impact, its going to be 1/2". they won't be able to get the UCA bolts out at all if they use that. 3/8ths impact and a shallow socket is the only option if you're going to use air.
I've never done them in a Ranger, but plenty of others.
If i were to do it, I'd probably try my air ratchet first since i don't think there is a ton of space to fit an impact.

I've got to stop working on **** then. I've always had a crappy time getting UCA's out.

the only thing that might be annoying is the shock tower being in the way or a brake line. the drivers side is the one you gotta be careful of since theres so much **** on that side.

How long did it take to replace you ball joints and uppers?
Great looking truck BTW.
