Yep there is a threaded sleeve/insert thing in there. You need a special tool to remove it. Partsmike has it for sale on his website.

EDIT oops ya beat me to it.

Oh, and do you know of a place by any chance that I could get a list of all the bearings and seals from the inner C's - out? I need them for my Chevy D44.

i have yet to see a list of bearing numbers for mine. you could buy a Master Rebuild kit. that comes with all bearings carrier out. They run about 250.

i know this is a ford kit but if they have it for a ford i dont see why they would not have a kit for a chevy. that is if this is some type of Dana kit. not sure

well i want to run high steer on my D44.

what i am wondering is if this track bar mount (seen below) will be sufficient fo what i want to do.

I am thinking I will have enough room to mount it just outside the coil. like hte second picture.

I think as long as you build it out of 1/4 inch cold rolled you will be Fine.

Actually i think it is. its only 24 bucks. i might beable to fit it over there. that would be the berries if i could.

here is a picture of it by request. ready to get sand blasted. i need to buy a press to get 3 ball joints out, other then that its all tore down from the outside.

Inside will get torn down and flushed out after it gets sand blasted.

Hey Zach you might like to see this website. LOTS of Dana Axle info, including exploded diagrams and service manuals:

So after reading Joush D44 thread. I did some searching and found these Reid Racing Ford D44 High Steer Knuckles. They look like they will work with my axle. Anyone confirm this? For only 229each and being able to use the brakes/calipers from broncograveyard.com that would be a good alternative to getting a set of chevy knuckles and messing with the chevy spindle/bearings etc.

They should, they are also known as Dedenbear knuckles. The only difference between the Chevy and the Ford is the Chevy knuckle is a thicker casting, I believe.

lol not all mall crawling

but i am not running a massive tire, i dont have a ton of power, and i have no rocks around here.

reason i have not gone wheeling much is i dont have the time and I am trying to pay off a bunch of stuff, truck is paid off in Feb08 trying to hold off til then.

not to mention I want a welder that the ebay bid is ending tonight, finally. (hope i win)
