Dana60 Swap...
you werent the only one that didnt know i just found out what they were when i was watching xtreme 4x4 about an hour ago
That's a good way of putting it. They are substantially stronger than a manual hub. That's nice because you don't go blowing up hubs all the time. Unfortunately, you might end up blowing up something that's more expensive. Also, they'll hurt your fuel economy on the road and, depending on whether you've got a locker/spool/something else in the front axle, they can make turning more difficult. My D44 came with drive flanges so I'll probably reuse them, at least for now.
1/2 ton inners 3/4 outers like your 44 had because of the 3/4 ton outers .
ok i think I am done getting stuff, now just waiting!

Last night, my dad, Josh, and I (it took that many people between holding the axle, torch and wrench) removed the kingpins and what a pain.
Ill start off as I 'borrowed' a 7/8" allen key, heated that king pin up cherry red from the bottom side, enough that the metal from the kingping was starting to drip. Put a 6' cheater bar over the allen, yep you guessed it, the kingpin split in half!!! Cracked in 3 places, so we tapped it back together and then welded the cracks, tried again, same thing. I ended up welding a piece of 2" .120 wall on the kingpin, getting a massive pipe wrench, reheating the dang thing to cherry red and then using a 6' cheater bar. Twisted right out.
The passenger side was a piece of cake after that. I guess it needed to be cheery red for a long time before it wanted to come out.
I will get some pictures tonight as I will be installing the new ones and finish cleaning up the axle.

most all of my parts came in today besides the brackets, so i am starting to assemble it. I need to take some time and get a few pictures. Kingpins are cool and strong but sure take a lot of work!
