Icon5 Drift Ranger Project Ideas!!!!

Hello ladies and gentleman, Austin here.

I am fairly new to the ranger scene, only owning one about 8 months now. 1998 Ford Ranger, 2.4L RWD Manual, Single cab, Short bed. And despite the miles and wear and years it has on it I love it.

With it coming up on 300k miles on the body/trans and everything but the engine. The engine was replaced at 200k miles or so. I figured, well I want a faster vehicle. Something that can 0 to 60 quicker than a golf cart and make me feel some Gs. But being a younger guy, 23, I already pay a little much for just liability on this baby. Imagine something sporty and being more inclined to go the full coverage route. I'd be living out a box. So why not modify the ranger, turn it into a project for a while. Swap the engine, swap the trans, new carbon fiber drive shaft and clutch and get a better exhaust setup, maybe turbo or supercharge it if it's doable. Redo the entire suspension, it needs it. Upgrade that, install a sway bar or cage if needed for stability and just go all the way with it.

I am willing to at this moment drop close to 2k into this truck to get those things done, or as much of those things done. And my end goal would be something I can track for racing and drifting. Something that turns heads and catches eyes and makes people double take when I line up.

Idc if im the fastest thing on the road, hell I would be ecstatic to just break 150 MPH somewhat regularly under the right conditions.

So what I am asking of you fine and wonderful people is some advice and ideas of builds.

What do you think is possible and doable with my little truck. Is this realistic, is this reasonable or am i daydreaming a little too hard and should I just go more mainstream and get some ricer car like everyone else.

I hope to hear back with ideas, and specifics. What engine/trans/exhaust/supercharger/turbo combinations would work and fit or at least be reasonably easy to mount in.

One last thing to mention, the whole point of this is to do it all myself, with the help of my amazing girlfriend. So 95% of the work I intent to do in our driveway on jack stands with hand tools. The few things I can't do like rebuild an engine and trans and weld in whatever needs to be welded in will be outsourced, but otherwise this is something I want to be able to accomplish, hell ideally in a weekend if possible.

I said it before, but I would really love to hear ideas, see examples, see videos of previous ranger swaps. I want to hear how they sound, see how they perform and see how reliable they run.

Thank you in advance for anyone and everyone's input. Expect pictures and feedback from me as we take this journey together.
