EERNGERS 2002 BUILD

So here is the start-present of my truck. She is a 2002 XLT 4x4, 4.0, 5-speed with a 4.10LS. I bought it over a year ago and i plan on making it slowly into something more suitable for trail riding. For the next two years it will remain a DD, and after that it will become a true toy (just need to get college over with and get bills in line)
so on to the photos!

...and then came the wrench....

Airaid intake box

Gibson extreme dual system.

Hurst shifter install

Light tabs, Hella 500's, and a receiver mounted clevis.

Garmin 60CSX with Great Lakes topo map installed.

Super Swamper LTB's 31x11.5, got a great deal on em, i will keep em for a year or so.

A few shots of my truck running the LTB's

Skid-plate i plucked off of a 2000 ranger, soon to be finished (shots coming soon)

Bridged my light tabs, and then added 2 more Hella 500's.

[IMG][/IMG]
Riddler Diff cover, painted then installed.

And thats my truck to date! stay tuned, more is going to be up shortly. i have a BL in the waiting, xenon bulbs for my Hellas, and a bit more before winter hits....

WHOOT!!! thanks you guys! I love the tires, my only issue is that they are bias ply, and ride like total crap on the road, when i pick up 33's you can bet they will be radial! lol

Looks like a very good start man! Keep it up! Oh and Gibson FTMFW!

Looks great so far! I'm also curious about the Hella's. I almost bought a pair at Walmart on the weekend but I don't know whether to get them and get the stick on smoke covers or get the black magic 500's.

Oh... and I think you should take that diff cover off and send it to me!

LOL, thanks for the comments guys! As for the hella 500s, its my opinion they are the best bang for your buck. they are a pretty intense light, in driving beam form (all 4 of mine) but are pretty much focused so if you are after a flood of light, they might not be for you. However i love having all 4 of them, they are pretty awesome at night. This is actually my second ranger to run 4 hellas, if that gives you an idea of how much i like em.

This is my old truck, it was a 1998 3.0 5-speed with a 3"BL and a set of four. ya...im kind of an addict.

if your after a not so white rock cover, you should look at the bar-style rock guard. i will post a link of it tonight (on my cell atm). i also have modified my hellas from 55w halogen, to 100w xenon, so i will get photos of the comparison here soon. thanks again guys!

After taking a better look at the grille i was talking about earlier, i dont think it would meet your needs..lol. i think the black magic would look tight on your truck however!!!

Thanks man, i will. im going to put them back on the truck after my body lift is on, or if you were looking for the info before that point i can plug em in and put the beam on a garage door or something for ya! i have both a set of "comet" 500's and a set of FF's. the FF's currently are still running halogen bulbs, while the comets have xenon bulbs. so it will be best lens/worse bulb...vs...worst lens/best bulb.

just take some silicone and use your finger and work it around the back side where the glass meets the plastic. Mine fogged up really bad i learned the hard way lol

aside that though they're awesome lights!

All right, i have some new parts on the ranger, so now its time to play catch up.
First off, as promised. The Hella 500 upgrade bulbs.

The first conversion pair, my 500 comets. The bulb upgrade kit is Hella Part # H83135312

First, remove the screw on the tab at the bottom of the light, this will release the glass/metal beam enclosure from the housing. there is a clip at the top of the light, so pull the bottom away from the rest of the light housing and it will release.

Remove the two connections on the H3 bulb, then release the bulb form the enclosure. Then lock the new xenon bulb into the housing, make sure as always to NOT touch the glass on the bulb. then re-attach the two connections.

Next, as 99offroadrngr had posted before me, Use a bit of silicone to keep the moisture out of your lights. Apply to the glass/metal joint on the beam enclosure, and the re-install the enclosure into the housing.

And for the pics! As always, the photos will not do total justice to the new bulbs. The outside hellas on the bar are on the the ones equip with the xenon bulbs, the inside are 500FF's with the stock 55W bulbs. The difference is not night and day, but for $30, it is a nice upgrade to have in your bulbs.

The longer Hurst shift arm, great for body lifted rangers. Part # 5388022, i also picked up the retro Hurst badge for my tailgate.

the longer shift arm is a addition if you dont like to reach for the stock Hurst shift arm, i didnt know how much i minded the stock arm, until i was on the new shift arm. The Hurst badge installed on the tailgate is kind of cool looking, or at least i think it is.

LOL! thanks. Ya, i know the extension could have saved me big money, i just kinda had a brain fart when i ordered it, by the time i came to my senses...the thing was at my door. But worry not, i will put the old shift lever to good use....i have a leather Lazy-boy which would look awesome with a hem....hem.... "modified" recline lever! haha
