anyway, we will see what happens with the truck...hopefully it is just a transmission, but i was having some oil sensor mishaps in the last couple weeks, so i'm not sure what the true culprit was... it will have to wait, as i'm going to the beach next week...
thats a bummer about the roads man, that thing would be sittin NICE about 2" lower haha

still don't really know what is wrong with the truck. when it broke down it overheated and lost all the transmission fluid for some unknown hole haha....Put transmission fluid in it and it ran fine, just got really hot really fast..So I'm not sure what is up yet, and I'm not sure how much money it makes sense to dump into it.

the truck is finally running again...and boy am i happy about it..

so i'm wanting to give the front of the truck a bit of an altitude adjustment, but not sure what i'm gonna go with..

been thinking about the 4" lift springs from skyjacker, but don't know where to get drop brackets or what else i need to do in order to run them comfortably....any thoughts??

can i run the 2 inch springs without a drop bracket? i'm just trying to get the front a bit higher than the rear and not so slouchy...

Ok, an update, this is what the truck is looking like currently, and what it will probably look like for a while.. The truck has turned into the ~$2500 beater, and i think it is great for what i have in it. Plans are to finalize center console(right now I have a full-length expo unit, but I don't know..might use a jeep one), new CD player(mine shorted out), new headliner, make a tube rear bumper, get 100W bulbs for the hellas, and figure out what tails I want to use(got some clear TYCs, but don't really think i want to run them, may just niteshade some other oem tails.)

Way future plans include a Giant or Mcneil beam kit for the front and some deavers in the rear.. and regeared.

Anyway, let me know what you guys think. cheers.

Very nice. I'm getting 100W bulbs for my Hellas as well. If you beat me to it, let me know how you like them

oh i know..$125 for the seats, the matching console and a tan console. all in awesome shape. i took the explorer seats off their power tracks and swapped them over to my ranger tracks, modified the mechanisms a bit so they're completely manual, and work awesome.

so....the truck rides like new haha......or course that wasn't cheap.....

before christmas, my 4wheel drive stops working.....take it in to Ford, need a new drive motor( i assume this means the actuator, but Ford kept calling it a drive motor.) While there, they tell me I need new shocks, and they inform me that the passenger side bracket holding the shackle on is broken, and the only reason the leaf spring isn't on the ground is because the bracket happened to get caught the frame.......

So, new shocks all around and brackets...yay.... Then, last week, truck starts making a noise.. then on the way to the shop, noise becomes a roaring, tank-driving experience. Wheel bearing destroyed...literally. While its up there, check some other stuff out... A couple tie rods are pretty awesomely loose. and there is a lot of play in the steering box... and ball joints are toast....

But, after a lot of money, the truck rides great haha.... Also picked up a tonneau cover from bigandrw^^^^^^ Unfortunately, the amp that i picked up doesn't work, so that sucks...But that's the joy of automobiles....

A4ld's are dime a dozen, if thats what you have, i've seen a ton of them in the junkyard. i'd be interested to see your expo console. i have expo seats from a 97 and i had to modify the rails. i also really wanna put clear park lamps in my truck too maybe some projectors. and when your junkyard shoping, get locks and an ignition cylinder off of an expo, that way its now all the same key.
If you need anything else, i've got a wealth of knowledge about old style trucks like ours, i've replaced a sh*tload of stuff.

so. looking for some advice on my truck. down the road i would like to lift it mildly. ideally 4inches, and run 33s. this will be done when i actually get out of school, but i still don't want to spend a bunch of money on the truck. A rough country lift on ebay is like $440, then pick up some extended radius arms and i'm still not out a ton. simple. (i know the superlift/skyjacker lifts are better, but i just want to run 33s and don't want a body lift)

However, i am incredibly lucky and have the hybrid axle. I don't wheel the truck, in the 3ish years i've had it i may have put it in 4wd 10 times. (a couple times in the snow, and a time or two in a bit of mud just to have fun, but no trail use now or ever)

Will my 28 hold up to just occasional driving with 33s? or do i really need to look into a d35 swap? Also, I could pick up a set of cut/turned D35 beams for a good price. i like the idea of c/t beams, and i dig it for the coolness factor.
Could anything useful be swapped over from my 28 to the 35 beams?

edit. just learned that the only thing not 35 about my hybrid is the pig and internals and inner drive shafts. so that makes me much happier.

am i right in thinking that if i want manual hubs, i would need the ones for the 35 right?

(i can just imagine the guys at ford putting this together, snickering and thinking "this will really screw with people")
