Motor swap In the works
Well, i've been really scratching my head lately on puting a V8 5,0 in my 95 ranger.... been looking all over for a motor to start with and work from there... Well, it looks like i am no longer going the 302/5.0 route....
I was on craiglist looking, and well... i found a Eagle stroker kit and block with heads for a sweet deal, 800 for all of it, the stroker kit alone was worth 900 new, and is still brand new in the box, block is already magnafluxed, rough bored, needs the pistons brought in, with the block and crank to get the final machining done for tolerances, but long story Short, were looking at a 347 Stroker in the works here... in a little ole Ranger, should be pretty wild when it is done... lol... in time,
heres some pictures...

Stay tuned, ill update this thread as i build it up!

Well as of now. im looking for an 8.8 rear from an explorer with 4.10 and disc rears. Also looking at a 5 speed from a 4x4 95 F-150 for a trans, and thinking of mating that to an 150 t-case as well... still havnt decided what im gonna do up front... so far my only plan is to pray that ttb D35 holds up lol....

sounds solid, im sure the front will be ok for everyday use, unless your into some technical offroading. your bound to have a heavy foot with that set up but if you take it easy it will last longer. i also know some guys running some v8 power in their stock axle jeeps without an issue. will you be upgrading the radiator and cooling systems?
be detailed on how it goes to hot rod the trucks electrical and displays. im looking at doing something different with the engine in mine but its the wiring and some technical that scares me away. and id also like to know lots about the pully set up and how you run the belts on the truck

One the truck is done, i dont really, well want to avoid, going off-roading in it any more lol... too much work to keep it looking nice, and off-raoding as welll. I know some of you may call it the street queen or ETC, but after the motor swap id like to get the body redone, and keep it on the streets, and pic up something older and cheap to abuse off road, so the front axle may be alright,
From what i was told the rad from the 93-97 4,0's had a super duty version available, soon as i find a part # im gonna get some prices on them from the parts store, just need to search if there is a part number i can find to look one of theses up.
And for the wiring, i plan on sticking with EFI, and well to be honest the wiring is my most feared point at this time, a friend of mine from work is an electrician, he will help me if i need it, so i may be alright, well see.... time will tell lol... im on hold as far as buying goes for a bit, gotta build back some cash flow, lol.... all in time!!

Well i got another bumdle of parts in, the thing is slowly coming together. picked up the following parts:
Mustang engine harness and computer with injector harness
24lb/hr injectors with fuel rails.
BBK 70mm Throttle body with Egr spacer
C&L 73 MM MAF
Distributor and coil
Cold Air Intake
And a Trick Flow Upper lower Street Heat intake
The parts all need a really good once over, and clean up but other then that ui got a good deal so im not too worried, im gonna refinish the intake a different colour, not sure yet tho,

Well. i opted to retire the stock open 7.5 rear at the same time i retire the 331 000 KM 3.0(207 000 ISH Miles) and replace it with this rear end, ford explo 8.8 with disc's, it currently has 3.73 posi, but i will be having 4.10 gears replacing those to match the front, also thinking about going to a 35 or 37'' tire in the process... most likely gonna scoop up the M5O2-R2 F-150 trans as well for the price i can get it... now i just need to sell the explo leafs. as there is already a set on the truck , lol.. the parts keep flowing in slowly, i wanna get the engine done fairly soon, however... as always a work in progress!
Here;s the axle, needs a little fad and tlc, and she will be ready to rock!

Update:
The Good:
GT40 Heads are now for sale, i ended up finding some Windsor Sr Heads with 2.02 and 1.6 Valve with rockers for a cheap price. They need about 2-300 in labour, but should be good to go, and much more potential for the motor then the GT-40.
The Bad:
The block i bought with the stroker kit was machined on the loose side, and i to get the other block i had in a complete motor ready for machining. The block i have is usuable with different style pistons, but the machinist does not feal comfortable running it as it is. Minor set back is all blocks themselves are fairly cheap.
The New:
Also got theses along with the cylinder heads. if i can make them fit, bonus, if not... they will be for sale. 1.75'' Headers:
Thats all I have for now, next step is to get a block to the shop and get the machine work done, and then go from there... it is getting closer and closer.... i am getting anxious!

Well as i believe i shared ealier, i found out the block i had was not quite right, i had another engine on the side lines for parts, decided i will use the block from it, and it turned out to look good. Got this torn apart, transmission removed and down to bare block with the crank in about 2.5 Hrs. Just need a puller for the front harmonic balancer, and i will be ready to send this block out. Here's some pics of the massacre lol.
