I have been toying with the idea of starting to go even bigger - mainly because I have been running out of ideas of what else to do with the truck. Then I woke up, and noticed this - I figured why the hell not!

It will sit in my garage for awhile; still have to get new tires and gears, and then the time to install it all!

Yep, I'm planning on running 35's.

I already purchased the Superlift driveshaft, front & rear 4.88 Yukon gears and a front Torsen LSD this morning!

It was an expensive Sunday!

 

Cool deal man! do you need a different front driveshaft? or is that what you got?

 

Yep, that's what I bought as well. Most people say the stock driveshaft can go out in short order with any suspension lift. It runs about $400, but I figured I might as well just switch it out while I was doing everything else.


Superlift says the following (also applies for the RCD kit):

Expect the OE front driveshaft to last no more than 20,000 miles after the vehicle is lifted. Therefore, Superlift offers a heavy-duty replacement front driveshaft that incorporates a standard CV joint at the transfer case for improved durability and longevity.

 

I love my Torsen! Running mine with 4.56s on 33.

 

Can't wait to see it. Be sure and gusset the differential bracket.

Yeah, I plan on doing that (thanks to your old post) and switching the springs out for 750's before it's even installed.

What tires are you planning on using?

 

Actually, I have brand new ones already in my garage! A few months ago, I purchased a few different length ones when I was going to switch to coil-overs on my stock suspension. So I have all those (now unneeded) parts as well (Original RCD brackets, hardware & Shiny Fox CO's - for a stock height truck).

As far as tires, it will be five of either the Goodyear MT/R's or BFG KM2's in a 315/75-16 (34.8" x 12.3") size so I can still use my current wheels (Pro-Comp Alloy Series 7028's).

Well, a few of my goodies are showing up! I received the Superlift drive shaft today, as well as my Yukon gears. Tomorrow the RCD lift, and the front Torsen LSD is scheduled to arrive!

Since my original spending spree on Sunday, I have ordered the 6" Skyjacker Softride leaf springs to install instead of the standard rear RCD setup. I also grabbed new 11.28" EBC USR series sport rotors & EBC Greenstuff 7000 Series SUV Supreme Heavy-Duty brake pads in order to install the RCD setup on my '03. The total between the springs & brake components was an additional $860.

Then, due to the backspacing on my current wheels (4.5") I am going to need new wheels and tires when everything finally gets installed. So because of this, I'm thinking of going all out and getting five of the 15x9 Trail Ready HD Beadlocks (real ones - not 'simulation style') with 4" of backspacing.

Anyone think there will be any issues with the 4" backspacing rubbing on the sway bar or RCD items? My current 285/75/16's rub on full lock only, but when I go to the wider 12.5" tire; I want to make sure I'm further away.

I'll have them powder coated satin black, and get the locking ring with a black anodized finish (thinking of using the 'World Ring' style). I'm thinking that will look pretty damn good with some brand new 35x12.5 Goodyear MT/R's wrapped around them!

Yeah, I hear you! But I can't bring myself to cut it all up yet...I'm sure it's time will come.

After doing my research, it seems that most people who go all out, end up switching to a solid axle down the road. So I'm sure that will be me after a few years!

 

cant wait to see how this works out cuz i got one i need to get installed too. are you going to replace your front end parts while you have it torn apart? (ball joints, wheel bearings, ect)

 

I wasn't planning on it. Even though my trucks an '03, it only has about 30,000 miles on it. She's pretty healthy...but we'll see what the 35's have to say about that after awhile!

 

here's a question for ya on the driveshaft.... they say the stock lasts 20k miles after the lift.... wouldn't that be 20k miles IN 4WD? most of your driving would be in 2wd, so I'd say 20k in 4 dub would be a LOT of miles to rack up before the stocker goes. Or is that incorrect? it doesn't turn when you're in 2wd does it? or is it the flexing that wears it out?

 

I'm pretty sure it turns while in 2wd, just doesn't have any torque going to it or resistance..
