Ok so with the help of Justin, I found the wiring needed to tap the sensors.

The manual and auto are color coded the exact same and use the same pin outs. So the BL/YE and GY/RD wires that run to the OSS sensor on my auto are the same colors as the OSS that are on the manual. So the ISS sensor is now out of the picture. Thanks Ford!!!

As for the reverse sensor, the DTR is what holds the wiring for this guy. The VT/OG wire in this pigtail gets attached to the VT/OG wire in on the pigtail for the sensor. Then the other wire, BK/PK is also in the DTR pigtail and that gets run to the other BK/PK pigtail for the sensor. If I have this down (and I think I do)... I'll have my speed back, my reverse lights working with the transmission and the OEM swap will be complete!

Justin turned me onto a mustang column surround also. An auto column from a mustang. Floor shifter which means no slot in the column plastic for shifter nor being an auto it doesn't have the key release. That'll solve the hole where my key release should be, that I'm not going to put on!

Ok so don't mind the wiring mess, it's just temp until friday when I can cut out all the old wiring and run clean wiring with heat shrink tubing and new wire loom.... But here's the how it works and what it looks like:

Cut the VT/OG and BK/PK wires on the DTR harness and connect them to the reverse sensor pigtail (I grabbed mine from a 05 STX out at the junk yard and pulled the loom back and cut far enough on the wiring to allow me to connect it to my harness).

Do the same for the OSS since they're the same coloring on the Manual PCM harness as they are the Automatic PCM harness. The colors are GY/RD and BL/YE... You just have to cut the harness for the auto since they're a different plug. Did the same for the OSS as the reverse by using the 05 STX wiring for the OSS and cut far enough back on the wiring to allow me to connect it to my OSS that is already there. Only thing is with the auto PCM, it has OSS and ISS sensors which determine your speed. Once the manual PCM is in it will read the correct speed, hence why I don't have it plugged in right now. That's happening on Friday.

And proof that it actually works when put in reverse:

Safe to say I have successfully completed the auto to manual swap on a 2001+ Ranger with PATS.... Friday I'll take a video of it working with no rev limiter and my speed actually showing up in the cluster!

Thanks to everyone that helped me.

True. I'm still crossing my fingers.

OSS is wired up, but not plugged in. Tried that and by the time I hit the end of my driveway (500ft) I was doing 40-50mph. Decided that wasn't right and unplugged it. At least I know I spliced the right wires for the sensor when the swap is made at Ford.

Sucks looking down by my desk knowing the fix for the problem is sitting right next to me. (PCM)

Since Trevor hasn't updated ya'll....I'll summarize it...

Friday, went to the dealership and had the PATS issues resolved with the '01 4.0 manual 1354E case PCM. Got his 3000rpm limiter problem taken care of, and now has a speedometer.

Bring us to today, Saturday. Output shaft breakage....

I'm trying to convince him to make a pistol grip ball out of it!

As of like 8/2008, it had 80k.

Time of event: 12:30 pm
Time of trans pull: 12:45 pm
Time of JY replacement trans pull: 4:00pm-5:30pm
Time of back on the road: <10:30pm

Upon further inspection of broken piece of output shaft, appears to have started at a hairline crack. Having all that new found power of being above 3k, probably took it out. idkn.

So...he's on the road again.

Whole trans replacement...was covered under the JY's warranty. He even got his own tailhousing with it, so I get my one back! lol. Original trans from LKQ Damascus. New trans from LKQ Vancouver. And no, there wasn't anything good there. lol.

Ok so here's the times like shane said

12:30pm - Went to do a small burnout with the new trans and un restricted computer... KABOOOOOOOM! I was reading speeds but no 2wd or 4wd.

1:00pm - started tearing all my components out and then the trans.

3:00pm - left with my trans to head to Vancouver from Sandy. Stopped at my house for my receipt and some kaysh.

4:00pm - Get to the Vancouver LKQ and find the truck. Crawled under a stock truck on junkyard stands and using hand tools pulled the tranny in an hour and a half. I even told them I didn't bring in a tailhousing, but the guy stamping my trans insisted I did. So I got a free tailhousing from it!

5:30pm - Left the junkyard, went to Knecht's for new fluids and GoJo.

6:30pm started putting the trans and components back together.

10:30pm - Was driving the truck home.

Here's the other end of the output shaft that was stuck in the transfer case when I pulled it. Notice the twisting of the splines!

Now, I can honestly say there's a definite difference in trans gear ratios like Shane was talkin to me about. The FX4 trans was a lil shorter which made it a lil more responsive, and this new one, well.... It's a lil taller ratio than the FX4. No biggie. Just inspiration to get re-geared!

So just over 9 hours of work including pulling another trans from a truck with all the components attached, stopping at the store and my house and pulling my trans and re-installing it.... Not bad for only doing one tranny swap in my life. :)

Oh forgot to add.

Once I had it reprogramed I cut out the DTR. Well you still need to complete the park neutral circuit.

So all you do is connect the TN/RD, PK, and RD/WH wires together. This sends power to the ignition allowing it to start as well as engage 4LO at a stop with the brake and clutch pushed in.
