Another Avatar ?

I see that John Moorehead has an avatar image 300x150 in size. But when I went to upload mine which was also 300x150 it wouldn't let me. It told me that it had to be 110x110. What's up with that?

LOL, so because he gives money to the site he gets to post an outragously large picture on the forums to make it harder to read the posts?

I have one too. If you don't like them, turn off the avatars in your options.

It's amazing how fast "class warfare" and resentment grows.

At least I'm not the only one.

And BTW, are these colors here to stay? It's a little bit too much blue don't you think?

For the love of Jesus......

There are ten other people with the bigger avatars.

Hell, I was the one that suggested turning them so that they were wider and not tall, which really clustered the screen up, figuring that would limit the cases of sour grapes. WRONG.

You COULD increase your avatar size to be the same as all the cool people (aka Ballers) and then it would flow perfectly for you.

I like Leo's explanation. :D

Basically, don't single me out because mine is bigger than yours.

LMAO

I honestly don't see what the big deal is with me, or anyone, having a big avatar.

You oughtta see some of the avatars on the Bass Pro Shops forums...I saw one that was 375x400....

I dont really mind the bigger avatars, I will say I prefer the wider ones... they just seem to flow better.

Wider IS better, lol.

I don't mind the large avitar's either. My screen is big enough to handle them without a problem. It's also easier to read through threads quickly when you can easily identify someone by their avitar.

Hey - look at LIL BLUE
Her birthday is coming up in 21 days
That makes it December 24th
She is already complaining about getting cheated out of gifts since her birthday is so close to Christmas

This post has nothing to do with avatars, now does it......

Get over it everyone!! Change is good.
After a few days you are actually going to like the new format.
If you don't like the colors go to your user format page and you can change to a white background.
You can also switch off the avatars completly if you do not like them or are on dial up.
Check into all the user functions and you can customize the forum a bit to your own personal wishes.

MOST OF ALL STOP BITCHING!!!

seriously. you don't like the way that ranger-forums looks, in the words of someone else, i dunno who, "cry me a river, build a bridge, and get over it."

i think the wide avatars look good. i think they give us a different look to most other vbulletin boards. if you can't manage to read the text under than, because they are so in your way, turn em off.

so, yeah... avatars = not a big deal, people...

does everyone just look for a reason to complain?

I like the default vBulletin colors (which I have now selected in my options, thank you) better than the ones you guys selected. Not for looks, yours look cooler truly -- but for readability and I can see the bloody cursor now!!!

Overall, I love this format. But I'm running, at the smallest monitor I use, 1024x768 and usually at least 1280x1024 resolution.

I use 1024*768 here at work and at home I use 1680*1050 on my laptop. I think it looks great with the wider than they are tall avatars. I changed my colors to the 'white' scheme however, the others didn't do too well on the eyes.

I see no problem with the avatars.

Take it easy man! These are legitimate complaints. You don't HAVE to do anything about it, but some of us still reserve the right to tell you what we think, even if you don't like what we have to say! And you're not going to make everyone happy (hope you've figured that out by now). But at the same time, you don't have to be so defensive about the complaints you get when you solicit them..

Personally I don't give a rats *** about the oversized vs regular sized icons. I don't care too much about the color or what not. I do think the old style w/ the icons and data on the left side is easier to read. I think it makes for easier reading. I wish you'd implement a style like ORR has. They apear to run the same software, so it's definitely possible to get the new features w/ the old style. But it's your deal, so whatever.. Just my $0.02..

True, but the big problem is there is more complaining than "thanks for taking all this time and trouble to try to make it better." I'm not saying you or anyone in particular, Colin. But sometimes, when you've gone to a lot of trouble and all you hear is COMPLAINTS before anyone's really used it for awhile, I think it could be disheartening. This thing is brand new, in development, and people are complaining about AVATAR sizes, like it's a big deal.

Especially when you are provided the service for FREE. You may have a "right" to complain; but some of the expression of that "right" around here is WRONG.

And that's my .02

Christian's a big boy. He should be able to turn a def ear when he needs to. That's my point.. People will always complain about something. It's well within our nature.

Wow....people really don't like this. It's kinda silly. John you hit it right on the head. Take time to get used to it, see what options you have (turning off avatars etc..) and after you've given it a chance then complain and suggest all ya want. Makes me kinda nervous to ever meet some people here...what will they think about me without giving me a chance....sheesh
