Any chance we could have a thread with stats to answer common questions. Something like this:
Bama chip: 90%
Jet chip:2%
Apten chip:8%
The info would be the direct result of polls, or even a survey, that every member answers. This way when someone asks "Should I lift or drop?", "BFG or.....", we could point to 1 all-inclusive post with forum members opinions on everything :)
They could include comments to broaden the scope but really if I see another life or lower question asked I'm going to pull my leg hair out.
If this makes no sense lemme know and I'll clarify.

Not what I was expecting in response heh. Personally, the questions do not annoy me. the responses by some people seem mean though and just scare people off. Maybe you could make a guide(with screenpics) on how to use the search function. Bryan, this is sortof wierd, but I was thinkin of the same thing you were. Except maybe at one point we all think "I wish there was somewhere with all this information."

One thing that might help a little with what your saying are the "How To"s. Not many people know we even have any. And we will be getting many many more. I'll probably be tripling the current amount of "How To"s in September, so I would hope that that would help with some of the repeat mondain questions.
Now what your saying "lift or lower" "bfg or goodyear" "bama or jet".. I dont see how those can be saved forever. People change all the time. How many trucks on here were lowered then were lifted? How many BFG owners have switched to GY? Catch my drift? People ask questions, we give opinions.. thats how this internet forum thing works...
Anywho..

No I don't mean like what people are running at that time. Ok let's use the example of performance chips.
Someone that uses an Apten may have done some research and found that a Bama chip was better but they still run an Apten. So they would vote for Bama.
I realize questions are one of the reasons we're here. But it seems to me we're here to provide info. If that's the case 1 post with info on commonly asked questions would provide a much better service IMHO. If you look at TRS they have an incredible resource center with tons of info. People don't have to ask a question or even use the search feature. It's right there. If I was trying to decide between Magnaflow, FM, Gibson etc... instead of asking everyones opinions for the 54th time this month I could look on one page and see "43% prefer FM, 39% prefer Magnaflow...." I wouldn't have to ask anything. It's right there that most members like FM (cuz of the sound..cough).
Granted opinions change so is there a way to have an adaptive, real-time poll setup? Maybe not part of the forum software but it could be another page that is linked to from the site. Then people could change their votes....
I'm a concise kinda guy. If I want to know what people think about <whatever> I don't necessarily want to sift thru 2 pages of posts to find the consensus.
P.S. I'm concise meaning I want my info to be quick and easy to access. I tend to babble when I type which isn't concise...just wanted to clarify :)

Why not just go to TRS info page :P I hafta say, I like this site for its more modern rangers, but TRS kicks *** in information. In fact, when I go to TRS, when someone posts "can i ___ ____ to my truck?" they usually get very detailed answers(check out the engine swap section and you'll know what I mean) but unless its people like Rwenzing or N3elz posting here, the answers are more opinions, or basic details.
I like this forum better for the people though.

I'm with ya Aaron. TRS kickass for hardcore offroad, dedicated trailrig stuff but the people here are what makes this my home.
Agreed people give a lot of opinion here which is why I'd like the page that gives opinions. So people can see the collective R-F thought on questions at-a-glance.

Everyone think about the stupid first questions new people can ask on a forum. Would you like to still see a survey showing that you bought an e-bay chip three years ago and loved it and the butt-dyno proves it! Go forward and let it get buried into the abyss. Products change and peoples knowledge grow. Let the normal cycle take place.

how about his: read the title of the topic, and if it seems like a repeat question then dont click on it.
surely it cant take that much more time or effort to hit the "2" link to go to the next page.
i think maybe if anything we can get a link section with brands that make parts for us and their links for their websites.
and even then there will always be rooks too eager to ask a question then to familiarize themselves with the site. Just get used to it and skip over uninteresting topic titles. afterall thats what they are there for...

Ok maybe I didn't explain myself very well. I'm not complaining about the abundance of repetitive questions as much as I am trying to make info easy for people to get to. Since the replies are mostly opinion why not make the opinions for several items/mods really quick to access but apparently y'all don't care if it's easy to get so that's fine...

There is the thing on the top of the page, has a bunch of options, one of them is "Forums". It would be a good idea for all of us to click on that and just look and see what Forums we actually have here, I bet some of yall would be quite supprised...

hey shalafi49,
I understand what you are asking for and completely agree with it. where as you are not complaining about the amount of repeat questions i am though, to a certain extent. when i joined here i wasnt new to forums but i was to rangers so im pretty sure i started by asking a somewhat repeat question. Along with the " members opinion poll page" (MOPP lol) it would be nice , especially for you guys that have been around forever, if fresh new members had a mandatory tutorial explaining the search function, or even a waiting period where they could only read not post. they are very basic ideas with many holes im sure but it would cut down on the amount of threads i have to search through when i come across a question that i'm sure has been answered on here before.
