Manual Transmission PCM

I have a 2007 Ford Ranger Sport 4x2 with a 3.0. It was originally an automatic truck and I have converted it to a manual. The last part I need is the Power Control Module (PCM) for a manual transmission 2007 3.0 ranger. What is the PCM number and where can I locate one?

When I did mine, I didn't have the PCM number. I just found another 2003 Ranger Supercab with a 3.0 non-flex, 4x2, and manual. Computer worked without issues. If you do something similar, you'll probably be okay.

Select what you want, i.e. M/T(manual trans) and engine model, and what Emissions your State requires, it also lists a part number write it down if you want to look elsewhere, or for new
2WD or 4x4 doesn't matter for engine computer

Just FYI for Ford computers
ALL Ford computers have the same middle number set, 12A650, from 1980's thru 2020's, it never changes so parts places usually leave it out
i.e. 7L5A-BBD = 7L5A-12A650-BBD
7L5A-AYE = 7L5A-12A650-AYE

example: 7L5A-12A650-AYE
What the numbers mean, on ANY Ford part
In your case the first number is the year, 7 = 2007, 5 would be 2005
L5 = model, Ranger or Mazda B-series
A = department at Ford that is responsible for this part

12A650 = computer for engine, as said EVERY ENGINE COMPUTER uses this number, lol

AYE, this is the important one to match up, it denotes engine size, manual or automatic, emissions status, and Software version
AND...............................Ford never released a cross reference for these, not even to Dealers, lol

This is why sites like car-part are important, they have kept a running list of what computers came from what vehicles, so that's the cross reference

So in your case you can use any of the ones that match what you want
Ford did update software first software would be A, then AA, then AB, then AC ect............so BB would be better software than AA because it was later version, in theory, lol

Thanks for the advice Fordzilla and Ron! I was able to pickup a computer today and we’ll see how it works out. Hopefully I’ll be able to Rev it to the moon in a couple of days.

Good luck! I tried to keep my swap as close to factory as possible, so I even swapped the engine/transmission harness. When all was said and done, the truck performed flawlessly and has done so for the last 9 years since I swapped it. The manual swap will always be the best thing I ever did to the truck, and one of the sole reasons why I still have the truck and have put over 150k miles on it.

How did everything workout? I’ve got an 04 ranger xl with the 2.3 4cyl and I’m thinking of swapping my failing auto for a 5 speed manual. Did you leave the automatic wiring harness in or change it to the manual harness? Did your new pcm work with your gauge cluster/odometer?
