well everyone who was banned will be coming back (or is already back) to the site soon. I think the temporary bans were a good idea, and as far as i know the people who were banned understand why and werent offended by it. But the point was to show that we are serious about respecting other members. If the same people continue to stir up trouble the bans will become longer and longer and longer.....

I think for the most part though the people who were banned realize why, and have hopefully learned what is expected of them here. Im not talking down to anyone just making a broad statement!!

from what i seen, Ty, u have nothing to apologize about. jsut some tough guys running there fingers about stuff they dont know (mainly dirty). he likes to stir trouble, he deserves a month long ban if u ask me.

I understand why i was banned. Although, the reason i reacted the way i did was cause of the disrespect from the member Dirty. My aplogies. I just thought his comment was unecessary(sp?) Again, sorry. Good to be back.

wow I completely missed that whole thread until this, jeeps are cool just not my personal aesthetic.... so i never opened the thread. Skot's link took me to a page after the initial flaming started but i guess it must have been really bad. cuz from what i read ( man I hate stickin up for dirty, cuz gil always make me laugh) he was just sticking to his opinion, but not making sense. But I'm proud now to be a member of this site more than any other, I have seen some pretty uncalled for burnage go on for a while in other forums. I'm glad this one revolves around Rangers and Respect.

 

I was banned...I didn't really learn anything. But that was interesting timing that literally right after i was banned the forums crashed for 24 hours. But I really didn't say anything too terrible, just pointed out that he said he didn't like mudding but he's building a mudding vehicle.

I learn better w/ a good smack upside the head.

um yeah, thanks for those who defended me instead of saying i should be permanently banned. I see how it is with some of you and im not gonna start again so quickly, but I appreciate people who took my side to a degree.

As for the situation, I may have over reacted a bit, maybe i didnt. fact is that if someones gonna be a jerk like that on my beloved forums, im not gonna stand around and only watch.

First, I never said I was building a "mudding" vehicle, it is a rock crawler project, will see mostly rocks and some nasty technical trails. I am looking at 35-38 inch tires and the ability to park one tire on the hood of a vehicle and the other 3 on the ground, without it straining. Mudding and offroading are 2 different things (well, in my opinion they are). Mudding is just mud, nothing but mud. Offroading has obstacles, rocks, trenches, washouts, hillclimbs, ruts, creeks, ledges. Mostly it is going slow and crawling over, up, down, or across obstacles, using 4Low.

Second, I personally dont think the part of the thread that was cut should be in a public forum, and a list of the people banned should be there either. If you get banned, you dissappear for a while and come back, no one has to know unless it is a perm ban IMHO. I also dont agree with people linking that thread to other people is cool.

Third, Why should i have a perm ban? For stating my opinion? Isnt that the point of these internet BBs? To share information and opinions? In that thread, I stated my opinion and got hassled, I stuck with my opinion and got a ban. Okay, **** happens. That Jeep seriously looked stock on 31s from that distance, I even asked several of my Jeep driving friends and they said the same thing. I was wrong, it happens. That does not mean, however, that I dont know what I am talking about, it just means that I am wrong sometimes, as everyone is from time to time.

Fourth, I believe some people should be banned for longer than they were, but that is my opinion. Everyone has opinions and most of them stink. **** happens.

Fif, I dont believe I am better than anyone else, I just have different views. For example, that Jeep is (more) stock compared to most that I have seen. I dont like stock vehicles because stock sucks, life is too short to drive a stock vehicle.

I think this thread should be locked, deleted, closed, burned, killed, whatever. There are more than one side to the story, and that could cause another "outbreak" because people dont understand the other side.

and i agree with everyone here, that thread was a bit hostile, and the people got banned deserved it, and that people are entitled to there opinions but somtimes should hold their tounges because its just gonna start a bad discusion..

 

Your views along with everyone elses are appreciated but they way it is said can come across as a good opinion or a bashing opinion. My thought is just read what you are typing before you hit Sumbit and I think you will see what you are saying.

These boards are about opinions, but it doesnt mean you need to try to make people feel stupid with yours. Your were somewhat rude in how you structured your opinion. Good for you in your rock crawler. I honestly dont care if you are walker evans. you have no rigtht to come here and tell everyone how bad their stuff sucks. which you did. I dont like mud either. Its just my not my thing. But mud is an aspect of offroad, no matter how much you think it not to be. I stick to rocks. yes I "only" have 33s and a body lift as my main visible mods for now, but who cares. I have fun testing my truck. Im not afraid to get some good body damage. Id rather not, but if I want to do a line and that may be involved, so be it. Stock may suck to you, but to other people its great, so why not just show a little friendly courtesy and bite your lip? these forums are more for helping others and making friends then to come voice your opinion.

I can get my tire on a car hood RIGHT NOW. If you dont beleive me, test me and ill go get a poser shot on a junker car. Thats not what you should be concerned with so much as having a good rig to get outside and have fun. People have fun with all sorts of vehicles. Stock to modified to super modified.

I think you made yourself look even more rude by not just saying, "hey im sorry, it looked stock to me." thats not so hard is it? we all make mistakes man. Ive looked like an idiot like that too. Ive been incredibly wrong but you just have to drop your pride and realize you were wrong.

As for the bannings. We were made example. It needed to be done and so be it. Its gotta be a whole lot harder to make people get somewhat along than both you and I may think. So lets just respect Christian for putting a great tool out for us, sacrificing a lot of time on us and being very patient with us. Let him be the administrator that he must be at times. Its a crappy job but it has to be done.

I didnt say mud was not off road, like you, I just dont want to get into mud and water and destroy my engine and have to get it towed or pushed off the trail. I for sure would not take a new truck into mud and water as deep as I have seen in pictures. However, this comment was not directed towards you, it was directed towards Red AK Ranger. You say mudding to me, you are talking about big puddles and high horsepower, like at a local mud bog.

I was using that as a metaphor, if you will. If I can get a tire on a car hood, especially an older car with an almost flat front end, imagine what kind of damage I could do to a rock or a ledge formation. If I could go up to the roof, then I will be exctatic. I know of a place around here that has some potentially FS van sized rocks , half sticking out of the ground (kind of like /, at one end it is completely underground and the other it is completely out). I, at the moment, cannot get my tire on a car hood, but there has been little work done to it now. I am almost done rebuilding the t-case and saving for axles, suspension parts, tires, wheels, gears, lockers, roll cage, enough tube to kill a whale, seats and belts, etc. It is a big undertaking.

I might have done that, but I didnt have the chance and got baraged by the ownage pictures of this site. BTW, I still dont think I was "owned", I was off by a few inches from a pretty good distance. Like I said, **** happens.

I know examples have to be made, but maybe just saying after the next incident that "people have been banned before and we aint afraid to do it again". WHile I know Christian is still new at this compared to other sites that have been up for some time, I or most other people have never read anything about "these people are banned for this reason, thay'll be back in 3 days".

Sounds fair enough. SGil, I do apoligize for sticking to my opinion and being stubborn. I will have to work on that.

As for it being made public that you were banned, if you don't like it, then don't provoke it. It's not like people couldn't figure it out. It shows right next to your name "BANNED".

 

That is what I am saying, if it showed the normal wording under the name and the person just didnt come around for a few days depending on how long they are banned for. I personally dont think it is much of anyone's business IMO.

Also, how about an email saying you cant come to this site for ___ days because of a ban? I tryed to log on and I was told I am not allowed to view this page. I could log out and figure out why.

Truthfully, I was still reading this forum while I was banned, mostly reading about people's opinion about me and seeing I had no way to defend myself (another reason this type of thread should not be started/allowed to go on). It puts people on the banwagon, especially if they only hear one side of it.
