Actually, I'd pay more than that to be able to store my pictures. Seems my ISP (3Dinet) has decided to shutdown FTP access to personal web space. I use MS FrontPage, and this makes editing my stuff a nightmare. Everytime I call them, I get some snippy admin telling me FTP isn't secure.
Soooo.. my question is.. can I store more than just pics and wideos in the storage area? I'd like to move the whole thing over, since it's mostly "How to's"
http://www.cpu-net.com/host/gndnovak/ (crappy thing may not even working this morning)
Anyway, it's under 10 meg and I just need FTP access, so FrontPage would work. I'd gladly pay even more than $10 just to be able to tell 3Dinet where to shove it :)

Actually long term, those how to's can be stored in a post or eventually html format on this site.

If anyone wants to recompile them into the correct form, that's fine with me.
I've already rebuilt the info twice, and I'm tired of the hassle. I just need some space and FTP access.

Personally, I think the large avatars are intrusive and the new forum layout is much harder to read.

It's a fine idea. Xtian's gotta generate some revenue somehow. The hosting space for this site isn't free, although it was when the site first got rolling just a few months ago. It seems like a reasonable way to come up w/ some cash to keep the site moving. And including hosting space is a fair way to compensate.

..Just don't expect any from me. There are plenty of free sites on the web where I can waste my day, I don't need to pay for the honor. And I've got my own photo hosting already thank you. I've already been burned 'donating' to a Ranger site.

And I'll have to agree w/ DownSouth on this one, the new forum layout isn't as nice as the old. But that's just my opinion.. Maybe it'll grow on me.

Figured I'd add my .02, I like the new design. I think it's easier to read (except the cursor, blends in too well). I like that I can see when PM's are in. I miss seeing who started a particular post tho...

And the new avatar size bit sucks too. I just went through and re-did a couple avatars to use yesterday and now it won't let me upload any of them as they use the old 110 pixel width rule! BAH! ... Well, maybe someday I'll bother to resize 'em again.. ..but not today!

i made some changes, now...

some of you complained about the way the large avatars interfere, so i reversed the limits to be 300 wide and 150 tall. the way the old board was, avatars being large vertical didn't affect much. here, they do. horizontal will have less of an effect.

also i bumped regular members up to 110x110 avatars and 80 private message limit.

Site Contributors up to 50mb of storage space.

Christian, does the storage space come with FTP access? My ISP still hasn't fixed my webspace, and I've had it with them.

Ok I contributed to the site. Reason being is, not to have some higher status. I did it to give back to a site that Christian has done an excellent job on, and still keeps trying to make everyone happy with out loosing his mind. Let’s see I get a set of stickers with this too, I thought this was a plus. Now after I got done contributing I went hunting around looking at all the new stuff. Like he said the new storage box is VERY BIG, you get a lovely custom title, if you want. You have so many more options now, the new attachment feature is very nice. I mean heck even if you just wanted some site stickers $10 bucks is EXTREALLY worth it. Christian has done a great job here and runs this site very nicely, it’s just my way of saying thanks for giving this to us. Now you can say well I don’t want all this stuff that’s fine he is still letting you be here FREE of charge. But in my book I did this to say thanks.

The links to contribute seem to be down. :(
Also - can I put some small .avi or .mov files on there and provide links to them in the thread?
I am ready to pony up the $10 bucks...

However, Leo, your comments in this thread did sound harsh. Even though they might be your friends, not everyone knows that.

Looks like we need to adjust the filesize limits for each file type though... 2.00 mb limit on AVI is kinda low...

i knew some people wouldnt take this well. look, your paying $10 for a few stickers, a larger avatar, and more storage space. consider it a membership "mod". Its like your ranger, without the mods, it still works just like it should; with the mods, its better. Christian is stressing that the funds from this are not considered donations. Youre not giving the site money, your buying an upgrade package, and i think its pretty cheap. This is post is not to demean anyone, just to clarify
