Somethings wrong with my account -- attachments dissappeared AGAIN

I went back and deleted all the older attachments that had dissappeared.

Now the ones I've uploaded since I got back are gone. They show in my CP, but when you click on them there's nothing and the topics they were attached in now show blanks.

Can someone troubleshoot this, please? It's getting old!

i believe that all attachments were lost since the new board change

i had the same problem, but when I edited my original post, deleted the original attachment and did a new one, it worked just fine

Well, thanks but I'm not much interested in going back and rediting all my pics. I'll just host everything on Cardomain until things get fixed over here.

It should be possible to migrate all that stuff I would think -- but with a new baby that may have been a bit much to ask!

Actually all it would be is a DB migrating script which I happen to have if the MODS or Site Admin wants to use it

I work as a programmer for a living, Zach. You don't know what you're talking about.

I've migrated data to and from database structures you've never even heard of -- like Progress 4GL for example -- both Unix and Windows platforms on Intel and non-Intel machines.

It was possible -- it just wasn't done.

What's the use of buying a membership to store attachments if they're just going to disappear everytime the site burps or gets upgraded?

I'll tolerate it -- but it's not an example of good practice and it's happened to me twice now. I'm not impressed, sorry.

dont put your money forward if its that big of a deal... if it was such a deal i would think you would try to get all your money out of it and actually stick around for a full year.

we'll have them back soon.

basically, someone uploaded some files via a hole in our attachment system and used ranger-forums to send out millions(not thousands, but millions) of sex spam emails. it was using 80+% of the dual 3gig processor planet server we're on...

Man you get nasty when you get challenged don't you?

If it's important to someone it is -- who are you to judge? Typical youthful outburst from you without thinking first.

Think of how many technical posts I've done with pics. They're all gone. And that was for the first loss. Somehow, crappy, free Cardomain has never lost a single one of my pics. How do they do it?

If we're getting the most recent ones back that's great and thanks, Christian.

But Zach, if I'm unhappy that all the work I did previously is now gone in terms of pictures to illustrate it, and with my limited time I have I can't go back and recreate the past, then I have a right to complain.

You might as I suggested, THINK before you post. Often in fact...

You're most likely viewing the membership "Donation" in the wrong light. Most people consider the money as a Thank You to the site for giving them access to this great ford ranger reference. Kind of like how us "Young" people pay an internet subscription so that we can do research on the web. If you need an example closer to home it's similar to when you had to buy an Encyclopedia set to do research as a "Young" person.

For the record age means nothing in a pissing match.

Great, Citizen Koon. You too are off base. I'm a major contributor here, like it or not, and to the Ranger community at large. I work hard on the technical posts and to see stuff disappear is extremely annoying.

Newcomers such as yourself who scarcely make a contribution technically really should be grateful for sure -- however I see YOU'RE not much of a contributor either money-wise or otherwise, for all your grand speeches -- whereas I have been for many years in both.

Both of you co-dependent silly persons seem to take umbrage with my being annoyed at this. I think you're both failing to see the point entirely and mouthing off.

Your argument doesn't even make sense as it's self-contradictory: you say it's like you pay a fee for a service then you say I shouldn't complain if the service is unavailable. I sure would like to be YOUR internet provider, lol. I could cut corners and you'd never squawk...

And Koony baby: young or old you have confirmed your foolishness.
