Our Classifieds section......regarding non-rule followers

I'm not trying to make a rant thread or anything......but i constantly see threads in the classifieds section not following the RF Classified section rules. One jumps right out to me, posting location in the title.

Maybe it's just a pet peeve of mine or something. I try to be a rule follower, but i mean, we were without the classified section for what......1.5 months or so?? Due to folks not following rules, the rules changed, and the new rules havn't been enforced. If you're selling a truck.....jeeze....you gotta have pics yall.

Like i said, i'm not ranting...just questioning. You mods are great...this is definately not a "diss" toward ya'll moderaters. Ya'll do a good job round here...most of the time, lol. just kidding yall.

Shane

I know ScottyG has been going through them and dealing with them, but it would help everyone if they read the rules first (Heck it even says "read before posting").

That would be a good idea Stone. I see it all the time as well, I used to PM the guys about fixing it but now they just need to learn the hard way. I really don't want the Classifieds to be locked down again, but if thats what needs to be done so be it.

I agree (+ I posted an add w/o a price) but you can set up a standard format where questions must be answered prior to the post. Then everyone is on the same page.

I have been editing alot of posts in the classifieds so that they match the rules. But it is getting to the point where Im going to start deleting the posts instead.

I made the mistake of not putting my state in the title of my for sale threads. I have contacted a mod to have it changed, and i want to apologize for the error....

do a standardized form like on RPS. Then when someone wants to put an item for sale, they fill out the form. Make some required fields (ie: location, price, description, picture, etc.).

I also like how on G-E you must include your Pay Pal information.

Or add a moderator for just the classifieds section. Let them take care of nothing but the classified section.

Alot of people making the mistakes are people who werent around for the week where we were talking about the new rules... so they assume everything was the same as before. A template would solve all those problems.

I like the template idea, it really shouldnt be all that hard to just follow the rules. It makes everyones life easier for the buyer and the seller

On one of my Focus boards it's simple.
If the thread does not conform to the rules, the information is deleted and the title changed to "follow the rules."
If a post does not conform to the rules, the post is deleted. Repeat the post and you are suspended from classifieds.

is there any way to make a screen pop up after you post a new thread that just gives you a reminder to post the location and price, and gives you the option to go back and fix it before you finalize the thread? just a quick pop up, kinda like when you post in the classifieds it tells you that your post has been sent to a mod..

we as a user can't edit titles of the threads, we have to have a mod/admin edit the titles...

yeah but before its actually posted, like you click "post thread", then this verification screen comes up and once you click continue or something then it posts to the board, but before you click continue you still have a chance to go back lets say... im not sure if its possible, just throwing out ideas

I really like the template idea.....required fields, etc.....and once the template is filled out, and meets the site rules requirements, it'll look just like they do now, like a regular post, just with the required info in the post.

Or do what RPS has, with a template.

I brought this up because i don't think it's been brought up before...an open discussion on the classifieds threads. I definately don't think it should be axed away due to some bad seeds. And ALOt of parts on my truck were purchased from members here.

Could always get some more moderators or something but the forms sound like a good idea too.

The template idea is exactly what we need. A moderator for just the classifieds wouldn't hurt either. I think the template would clean it up a lot. I don't know if the forum software supports it tho.
