Maybe someone can help me out on this....well i take lots of pictures of my truck and yet to have a good one..i just dont know how to take pictures...like maybe something in the background would help......i just need some tips on how to take them..i did a search on the internet but nothing good seemed to come up....

 

Just try different angles and stuff....like squat down and take a picture down the side of the truck. You could also find some nice scenic backgrounds....like a lake, skyscrapers, an empty highway, when it's foggy with you headlights on. Just be creative.

 

what kind of camera are you using? if it is 35mm what speed of film?

Well a thing that helps alot is angles, not too crazy...

If you look it at, the angles wrong because i mean, it just is, My trucks in th way, and try and keep the truck in the center with pics like this too..


This one is better, alot better, but again, my truck is in the way :(





And this is a very cool picture...Look at the angle, and placement of my truck in the center, only problem is the damn trucks in the back, but it makes my truck look like a GIANT!!!

i have found that angles are good any pretty good , anything other then a head on shot or directly from the side. i find that those dont turn out real good.

Look up the rule of thirds, that's how you get good pictures. It's the foundation for any photograph.

 

and also for video. cut the shot up into three sections left to right then the same for up and down. then use that as a guide.

Yes! And I like the second one you posted BETTER! Prolly 'cause it follows (or more closely follows) the rule of thirds. As Dave said, that rule will instantly improve the look of your shots. While the background (w/ the other trucks) is a bit jumbled, the eye is drawn to the truck by the expanse of open sand/water in the bottom left.

Someone once told me that the key to a good photograph is for it to look different, like something you don't see every day. So shots taken from eye level are quite borring as you see them every day w/ your own eye. Exagerating something, be it the scale (by adjusting angle) or color (by adjusting exposure settings) or whatever makes for a more interesting shot.

Another tip is to just shoot the living crap out of stuff. By this I mean take buttloads of pictures. This is where digital cameras help as it's virtually free to take 10 shots instead of just 1. Even the very best photographers take 80%+ crap. I used to take nearly 100% crap because I saved and conserved film (being a poor student) and never took chances, thus I never got the payoff.

Luck also factors in. I've been into photography since I was in Jr High and I still consider myself damn lucky to end up w/ a good shot.

Oh, one other thing is try shooting in the 'golden hour' just after sunrise and just before sunset. This will give you more interesting (although less life-like) colors. After that you could try messing w/ special filters or lighting effects (flashes, reflectors, etc). But that costs money..

 

try to be really really steady when you take pictures as well, I find that I tend to move slightly when I hit the button, then the pictures turn out all crappy, like this one

havin a tripod, or a rock, or tailgate helps as well :)

 

i am all about the 'rule of thirds'...

that is why i take alot of pictures, so i can get a good one out of them all...

also, i plan on cropping 90% of the pics i take for use online...

Yeah Christian...i have thought about cropping mine too because half of the stuff in the picture is just sky...i will try the next time i take some pictures...

 

yeah guys it is all about the thirds but also if you have a crap camera that will do it to you to...

noo....haha i have a Kodak 5.0 Megapixel camera that cost me about 400 bucks...it better not suck...haha

 

well then it probably ain't the camera...i use to use the little disposable cameras and then suck and now i got a 35mm slr camera that i love, yes i know i am still in the stone age with a film camera and not a digital but there is something about a good 35mm slr picture...

here is a picture i took the other day, i thought it came out nice...

 

yeah that is nice....about a week after i got my camera my friend dropped it on New Years Day and it busted...so its all taped up because it send it in it would cost like 200 bucks for a part...

 

wow for that kind of money you can get another camera....

 

Actually I hear those disposables actually take really great photos. Color print film is easy to shoot, regardless of the equipement. The equipment just makes effects easier..

 

they are nice if you have the right light and stuff, but sometimes you can get a bad camera...but hey that is what i have used for the past 4 years until i got my canon...

 

yeah i love mine...my mom has a canon rebel and its awesome...but i cant mess with it or she will kill me..haha

 

soudns like me, i have a rebel also and don't like when others use it, it is one of my babies...

but i would love to have one of those canon digital slr cameras....
