within a short amount of time, it'll be like everyone is a truck of the month. look at G-E...typing in this post is G-E truck of the month for Jan 08. practically all the 'active' members over there are G-E truck of the month winners.

we tried..hell....i asked in a new thread about truck of the month here. now....i think of it as us being better. we know whose trucks kick ***...plus....we're like the only site that doesn't do that TOTM thing and i like it.

For sure.. trust me i agree Shane. I guess if we had 50,000 members it would be different. I like this site because its not a bunch of punk *** kids having pissing contests everyday. And the ones that come on this site and pull that crap are banned... like they should be...

 

I have seen this type of thing before and I agree that most will feel like they got shafted. Its not a bad idea of the rating thing though, sounds great. Everyone here is proud of the trucks they have. You just have to remember that what everyone says is their opinion. It doesnt matter if someone else doesnt like something you did to your truck just as long as your happy with it. Gotta take some things with a grain of salt and move on. I love my truck and all the mods done to it so far and ultimatly it doesnt matter to me what someone else thinks about it cause Im gonna mod it the way I want. I also think that all the trucks on this site look amazing wether I like all that has been done to them or not. This is where I have got so many ideas and info from and thats all that matters to me. I read in an earlier post that we are a famly of truck owners and I think that hit the nail on the head with this place.

 

I like the rating idea as long as it can be kept honest and fair by the participating members. "Rating" systems can too easily be turned into a popularity contest, just as TOTY or TOTM do. Also, people will sometimes purposely rate a vehicle low because they may not like the respective owner, which defeats the original purpose.

 

How about this then, instead of truck of the month and truck of the year why not trail of the month or trail of the year. This way it will get more guys out with there trucks enjoying the trails and in turn it will make the sport more popular and it could help out the trails. which could be mentioned, IE funding for cleanup mud runs or even charity events. Its just and idea.

 

Well since 80% of the guys on here don't ride on legal trails and this isn't a offroad only site I don't see how that will work.

 

X2! There is no way of doing any of the ideas. Just get the garage section back and it will be fine.

 

My idea would be for everyone to submit pics to be featured on the homepage (say, in one of the upper corners or something). Then, whenever the homepage is opened, it randomly shows a pic in that section of a different member's Ranger. Then everyone would have an equal chance of getting thier truck shown off to readers, and it wouldn't be a thread, so there would be no "mine is better" "that truck sucks" "who would do that" types of posts. All the benefits of seeing your truck prominently displayed without all the negative hype associated with TOTY/TOTM. Of course, this idea may not be possible, I don't know how the layout and design of this forum works.
