'97 is best...the more reliable & bulletproof OHV that doesn't depend on revs for low torque, and the TTB/TIB front suspension with easily modified front suspension travel unlike the IFS (not counting i.e.: Camburg long-travel kits...not many of you guys actually have that on here). It's quirky...yes. I do like the new body styles of the late 2000+ Gen V's...

 

we need more First generation rangers

 

They are not too old, not too rusty, not too expensive....just right.

 

'97 here, I only wish it was newer, ha.

that is a good body style too. i dont have the front suspension problem any more tho.

Mine is a 2000 and I just love it. Have had it since it came off the carrier at the car dealer. I will drive it until it falls apart :-)

I have a 1999 XLT 2.5l 2wd. Its been a good reliable truck for me, but I am looking at upgrading to a 4x4 ranger.

 

I have an 01 Edge, ext cab 2wd with nothing really done to it yet...
