Bought N Paid For Something Off The Classifieds 22 Days Ago. No Item and No Contact

Hey guys. I bought this https://www.ranger-forums.com/old-engine-drivetrain-116/dana35-4-56s-aussie-locker-rhode-island-117154/ off the classifieds here. I paypal-ed him on the 7th and he said he would have it shipped friday (also the seventh). So that came and went and it was all good. But it has been 22 days since that happened and I have seen nothing (I'm in Saskatchewan and hes in Rhode Island, but still) I have messaged him a couple times asking for a tracking number or even confirmation he shipped it but I have gotten no response. I checked his profile and he hasn't been on here for 3 weeks. What do you guys suggest? Wait it out? He seems like a legit guy so I am probably just worrying too much, but it just seems a little odd. Thanks

You could file a dispute on Pay-pal. If he is paying attention to his account, then he should show up.

Try sending him an e-mail.

I would file a paypal dispute as soon as you can. Theres no reason it should take 3 weeks to get something shipped. I would understand more if he had kept in contact with you but with no contact I would go ahead and try and get your money back.

Have you tried emailing him?

You should be able to get his email from his pay-pal.

The address you sent the money to should also be his e-mail address.

Somebody correct me if Im wrong.

You can file a dispute by following directions on pay-pal's site.

Since he hasn't logged in here for 3 weeks I'd try sending him an e-mail. Something might have happened that we don't know about. If he doesn't respond then I'd start the PayPal dispute process. I believe you only have 30 days so you might go ahead and start the process anyway. Hopefully you didn't send the money as a gift.

Dang, $350 is a lot of money to get screwed out of. I would definitely file a dispute through paypal. Do everything you can to contact him in the meantime. If I paid that much, i would want some peace of mind, and a tracking number or contact would definitely be a must. Hope it gets sorted out.

If tomorrow comes and goes and no tracking number and no contact, File a complaint with Paypal. I had an instance with a guy on here that did a similar thing but he ended up taking my money and disappeared. I hope this guy doesn't do the same thing to you but when it comes to that kind of money you gotta set a time line and stick to your guns.

I hope you get your stuff you paid for.

Good luck, man. I hope it works out. However, if he's already pulled his money out, PayPal may not be able to do anything for you. It's been a long time since I had a situation like that. I know they guarantee some transactions, depending on the buyer and seller.

PayPal has changed their policies a lot. Used to if you had a legitimate issue they would always side with the buyer. Now it almost seems to be the opposite. In this instance all the seller has to do is say that he shipped the item and provide a tracking number and you won't see any money back. The tracking number can be for any package, not necessarily what you bought. In other words, he can even send you an empty box. If it were me I wouldn't bother with PayPal. Call your credit card company or bank and explain the situation and ask for a chargeback. Hopefully you didn't pay with PayPal balance. I always pay for items bought online with a bank debit card so that I'm protected.

Said he was going to have it shipped by Monday, I still don't have a shipping number (Thursday), I filed a dispute on Paypal. I sent him a stern message today on TRS. I'll give him a bit more time and then file a claim I think. This is BS. I sent him PM's on TRS tuesday and wednesday I believe and he logged on to TRS yesterday and didn't reply to them. Worst...another headache to add to the list

I wouldn't wait, just go ahead and file the claim. He's had his chance to make it right.

And why is that? I have bought and sold plenty of stuff off of this forum and others and have no problems. If you pay with paypal you have protection. Although I wouldn't buy from someone that only has a few posts.

Yeah same here, as long as they contribute and don't have bad feedback I don't have any issue with buying from anybody.
