Clutch Replacement
Clutch Replacement
Hey guys, I have a 01 Ranger Edge 3.0 2wd and I’m going to need a new clutch soon, I can feel it slipping and going out. Any recommendations for a really good aftermarket clutch. Looking for something durable and can handle some mods. It’s for my daily drive. Thanks
LUK was the OEM for Ranger clutches and I have used them in My Rangers over the years, no complaints, I only get manual trans Ranger, so there has been a few, lol
I recommend using Self Adjusting pressure plate(SAC) regardless of the brand you chose, makes it much easier to drive when clutch pedal disengage and engage stays in the same place in clutch pedal travel
With regular pressure plate the pedal has to be down at the floor, and an inch father, to disengage with new clutch disc, then as the disc wears down the disengage/engage happens farther up in pedal travel until its at the top and clutch is slipping again, so not terrible, but for a few dollars more for SAC that's avoided
Do NOT ever get "racing" clutches, lol
They use a softer friction material that gets sticky when it warms up, which is GREAT for quick engagement but they wear out in less than 1/2 the time of regular clutch friction material
