custom fab sales

ok a friend of mine an i want to start making custom fab bumpers/rock sliders/roll cages for people. kinda a small side buisness. (maybe i would get on here if it works out). how well do you think that would go?

he is a welder and i am good at pipe bending and design work.

do you think it would be a flop or just something that would take a lot of work?

there are a lot of kids at my school who want stuff like that.

just poking at ideas

If you can do it and make money with it, go for it.

Is that a problem if they are just making stuff for their friends?

x2, if they are just personal friends making the orders do you think people will make a fuss about it?

I just don't think there's a big enough market for it. You're friends talk about it, but when I comes time to cough up the money for the stuff, they'll dissapear.

ok, here's the deal. Go to the IRS website and get a tax id number. Then go to the government page for Ohio and register your business and get (i believe) a vendor's license. They will have examples of what kind of business you have. I think mine cost $25. Once you have done that, you are legit in the eyes of the Feds and the State.

Good Luck!

I would say that as a professional business, theres probably not alot of potential for clients but as like side jobs... i think its a good idea.

man dont worry about it. Do what you gotta do. This isn't a business, this is you doing favors for people. The IRS has way to much on their hands to worry about you making things for your friends
