Icon13 UPS

Horrible and disorganized company. A package that I sent to another member was lost in transit. The declared value I listed was automatically changed by the computer and decreased. I called the claims department and they had me provide them with proof of what it was actually worth so I sent them a PDF of the paypal transaction TWICE because they lost it the first time.

I called today to check on the claim and they said they're going to refund the "declared value" which is 200 less than what its actually worth/what the person paid. They basically had me send them the paypal transaction for no reason since they ignored it. They're refunding the old declared value plus shipping but shipping was $40 not 25 like they said.

They wont fix the problem and apparently there is never a manager around when I call.

So i'll be out $200 which is awesome because now it delays it even more for me to pay my license reinstatement as well as repair my truck to put it on the road since I basically don't have a job right now.

I ship a lot of stuff out and they'll never be shipping anything else i have to send off to someone. FedEx or USPS will be the only ones shipping my stuff out.

I got burned on a USPS Insurance Claim, you never know.
We need to find a good backup insurance for these times.

Keep contacting UPS, force the issue, it might turn around.

Threaten em with the BBB, haha. The problem with UPS is that a lot of their mistakes is human error. Humans sort, sort again, scan, load, etc. Fed-ex is more automated, with computers scanning most packages. I've worked at both and I would still rather ship UPS. Also, your package probaly did not get lost, it probably got stuck in a package jam on a belt at the hub and got damaged. If the label was destroyed its hard to figure out where it came from or where its going. A loader or manager would have to re-package it and manually enter the tracking number if its still visible. On busy days these packages will get pushed aside until they get time to do it. Expect delays if you dont tape and pack your packages properly (not saying you did that, but i saw it a lot), because your package will probly get crushed. Keep pushing the issue, they will either find it or make it right.

Its more the idiots who came up with the computer system. I got this strait from the driver when I talked to him. They actually hardly do a physical scan. It is all automated. If they did a physical scan every time they would probably NEVER lose anything. I use to work at fedex loading/unloading and we always did a physical scan of everything.

Hmm, throughout the hub at fedex it was a lot of computer scanning where i worked, got scanned by a person right before it got loaded. At UPS where i worked it is scanned and sorted by people a few times before it is loaded. I'm sure every hub is slightly different. The system is very simple and VERY outdated. But it would cost too much money to update it, driving up cost.

I shipped a package USPS once and it didnt show up at the guys house, 2 days later I got the demolished box back in an envelope with a letter asking me to describe what was in the box like they were actually going to look for it. I am sure some jagbag is using the item as we speak. And there isnt anyone you can call at the mail recovery center everything has to be emailed or send a letter, that never gets a response. With the amount of money those people make maybe they should do some budget cuts and work on upgrading the system.

I always use USPS because if it gets destroyed and its in there box its there fault.

If I ship anything that's fragile or very expensive I use UPS and pay the extra to have them package it because now its on them.

I use USPS where I can, easiest to get to and talk to the shipper.
If you want to insure something you have to pay for additional Insurance with USPS, it is cheap but you have to pay up front.

There is no insurance included in the Priority Boxes and speaking of these boxes, it is not alway the cheapest way to ship something; you would be surprises.

My package was showing that it was in NC 2 days ago with a scheduled delivery of yesterday. Never showed up. Now the tracking is showing that its in IL. So it's gone from IN to KY to NC to IL. UPS definitely needs to get there crap straight.

yeah they've disappointed me. sometimes things get lost but they wouldn't give me the full amount of what i sold so they can screw themselves.

Another piece of advice, from experience is to have a sheet of paper inside with the senders address, and the receiver's address, and description of what your shipping taped to the item, or stuffed inside the item thats inside the box. If it is more than one box, then put it in each box
that usually helps get it there if the box is damaged and no longer legible.

I always used FedEx. They generally cost less but people give them crap because they contract drivers for the Ground and Home Delivery. I 'm shipped some much through them, big stuff, even stuff with no packaging that was awkward, they never fail.

It is probably on someones truck right now. Just sayin. I hate all shipping companies. They all lose important of expensive anything... Most of the reason is the people that work for them are overpaid and dont give a *ukc about their job. I used to go to hooters for lunch every friday and when I would come in there sat all the UPS guys getting hammered and then would leave to climb back into their delivery trucks to finish up the day Drunk as hell.

I've always done this when I ship items and is a very good idea. What I don't get is on the package i'm waiting for now, it's showing arrived in NC but never departed. So apparently it just magically appeared in IL.

UPS sorters stole copies of Grand Theft Auto IV back in 2009 when it came out, they just saw video game size boxes with "Rockstar Games" in the return address and ripped them open and stole the games. People received empty boxes.
