POR15 is it worth it?
POR15 is it worth it?
I would need about a gallon.. maybe two. I have ALOT to do with it... I have my backrack to do, the undercarriage of the ranger, and the under carriage of the E350 which is like 3 rangers lol
Hows the stuff hold up? any experiences with it?
The backrack is being pulled this summer and is being professionally sandblasted, and I was thinking of using POR15 as a base/primercoat than toppong it with Emron paint ( i have mutiple gallons)
The undercarriage of the ranger is starting to look a bit dingy, and I HATE the 'rust' look.
The undercarriage of the E350 is solid rust, and I need the floor rails (its a cube van) to last atleast another 10 years... Sandblasting them is completely out of the question, as is replacing them... they are essentially C shapped 3 in channel that are still sturdy but pretty damned rusty...

I found POR to be horrible on bare metal, but GREAT on already rusted stuff.
I once wiped off my hitch, brushed on some POR from another job, and I really beleive I got better adhesion from no prep than extensive prep.

yeah its meant for painting over rust but i painted over clean steel and it has held so far. its been on for a couple years now.
It's the sh-t, stuff is awesome! Used it myself on a rusted up '76 Cobra II. When that stuff cured it seemed harder than the metal I applied it to.
Only thing I found was a friend of mine used it on the frame of his '88 F150 and he got in a hurry and did not take the time to make sure the surface was free of grease . . . POR15 doesn't like grease . . . it likes rust. After a year my friend had some flaking issues where he didn't degrease it first but everywhere else it was bonded like armor.

Its worth it. I worked in a garage for my university for 5 years and we used it on alot of our equipment, and they stuff worked great. We never used their prep, just brushed of the loose paint and rust and brushed on the POR15. I just started using it on my truck but haven't had it on long enough to give feedback.
to bad i havent used it on my truck good try dick head. its kinda hard for a college student to spend 100 dollars on a gallon of paint. and if your going to try and insult me do it right. my frame is fine i need 2 rear cab mounts so get it right
why are your panties constantly in a twist? did you forget to change your tampon a few days ago or something?
chassis saver is garbage imo rust bullet is better then both chassis saver and por15 where i work we have tried all three and out of all of the rust bullet has held up the best
yeah here you go Rust Inhibitor Paint | Stop Rust | Rust Corrosion Inhibitor | Rust Converter you can get it through summit racing
You should just dip your truck in POR15.
Have you guys been just using 2 coats of the POR-15, or have you been top-coating it with something else. If it comes out good with just the 2 coats of the base, I'd rather go that route as long as it holds up well and looks good.
