Exhaust heat kills....

So I got my 84 Ranger like 3 weeks ago, took it on a 2 hour road trip to meet up with some friends for my Birthday. Anyways, halfway there, the flang below my headers rotted off and the pipe between the headers and cat converter fell off! Hello loud *** exhaust and back fire! lol. Didnt think too much of it so I kept truckin, after all it was 3am. I get to my boys house, (who is basically my mechanic), drinks some beers with him and pass out. Wake up the next day to work on the truck and it won't start! Since the pipe connected to the headers wasn't there, and drive for about an hour like that, it was blowing all the hot exhaust directly on my starter and burned it up. Anyways, threw a new starter on it. The End.
