Ok Im thinking about getting one, but I dont know where to start or what to do, or if its even a good idea. The reason being is that I have a BL with 31s and its automatic. Its obvious the big tires slow it down, so im wondering if it would help me any or make a difference. Someones also tellin me that it may mess up my headers or something? I dunno, im a lost puppy with all this. Any suggestions/ideas?

Take that money and buy a crate motor. Its a 3.0. your not gonna get too much out of it.

 

agreed ^, you will run into way to many problems supercharging a stock motor anyway.

 

id research boosting a motor more before you decide to start piecing a kit together, if you cant decide wheather boost is a good idea or not, hold off and learn more. boosting isnt a half@ss ordeal and if you try to make it that way you will fail. you really need to plan it out before going anywhere. pick a hp/tq # that youd like to make and plan your build around that.

whipple used to sell kits but its no longer in production, trying to track down a used set up is probably your best bet. the real achilies heal is going to be your heads the 3.0's dont flow well and you'd need to send them out for a p&p. saying s/c on stock isnt wise is bs, if you build and tune it correctly the motor will remain reliable.

 

Look at your axle tag and tell us what your gear ratio is. If you have like 3.55s or 3.73s that is your problem. If you just want your stock power back you need to have 4.10s or 4.55s. That will fix it.

If you have a 3.0 you probably have the 7.5 inch rear axle. Swapping up to an 8.8 rear axle from an Explorer with 4.10s and L/S is what most guys do. You have to have spring perches cut off and welded onto the other side though so that may be out of your realm. Or you could get a 8.8 from a Ranger. They are a little weaker but they are easier to find with 4.10s and you don't have to have the spring perches welded on.

Supercharger is over kill. Plus the only one that would work for a 3.0 is the old Whipple kits which are no longer made.

for the money your going to spend supercharging it you could spend on swapping to a decently built 5.0. and have twice the gains that youll see with a supercharged 3.0
