Delta Pro - a full dual wall + insulated Steel crossbed box - I went with a full height on the top and a slim profile below, so I can still stash things underneath the box to keep it out of the weather if needed (Or for hauling 2x4's and whatnot. Absolutely perfect, it really is probably the best youll ever find out there - I can stand on it and jump up and down and it wont dent it.

If you are looking for those cheesy aluminum ones, expect it to have a nice fat dent in it the first time something pushes up hard against it! Jsut a forewarning - dual wall steel ones are the quality way to go!

Daws Better built makes a "slim line" box I'm looking at for my truck. Most tool boxes are about 20" wide, where the slim is on 12" wide. I do not need to have a big tool box for the small amount of stuff I might put in there. Autozone has this line made by Daws but branded Autozone for around $200. The part #79011050 on daws website.

Got mine from the autoparts store when they had a deal on it. Its a delta low profile whatever. i like it. As a standard cab truck, i don't have a lot of room in the cab...this works well for anything i need to lock up.

Check craigslist for sure. A lot of time there's low profile deltas for $150. Or like mentioned, kobalt at lowes run about $150 brand new

You will have to go into the PDF catalog to find it. Page 43.

canadian tire sells em'. i don't much else about which ones or pricing i just remember seeing them in there. also if they sell them expect partsource to have them or be able to order them.

question, how do they secure to the bed? do you need to drill holes or are there stake hole mounts?

daws/betterbuilt makes the kobalt ones just an fyi. just for a fraction of the price but the same quality. alot of the loggers abuse the heck out of the kobalts here in oregon and they hold up well

They use J Bolts - they are shaped like a big J with a long thread, and you get a coupel fender washers and a bolt - then it sort of clamps it to the top of your railing.

Daws also has a hidden clamp system designed for their boxes to where you don't need to drill your bed.

I paid $238 for mine on sell. Been a great one so far. Pick up a set of "j" bolts to attach to truck. Do not drill through bed to attach

picked it up today as an "open box" deal(guy returned it same day for the bigger one above)
$100 including the daws clamps mentioned above. the clamps aren't made for a ranger with stake pockets lol. kinda irks me but meh. i mounted them ALL the way to the front and it holds perfect still
normally the box is $141 and the clamps are $27??
link to mounting clamps--http://www.lowes.com/pd_8609-76354-2...%3Dbetterbuilt
the box i got has cut outs where these were supposed to line up with. unfortunately it's right where the stake pockets are lol. so you need to drill 2 holes(inside the box not the truck) but no biggy

I wanted the bigger one but settled for the small one. that way my front tires of my quad won't sit ON the wheel wells.the slanted sides are great because you retain the tie downs at the front of the bed :D

a guy on the lowes website says the kobalt ones were good. but the locks were cheap. in my world a box is only as good as its lock

They are expensive, no getting around that - but as the post above mentions - a box is only as good as its lock. I've seen those cheap *** thin aluminum ones pop open jsut from taking a speed bump too fast. I guarantee a Delta Pro Steel isn't going to pop open, you cant even force it open with a crowbar - so its well worth the ~600-700 you'll spend on it. Lifetime investment!
