2004 4.0 v6 4x4 starter replacement

so here goes. the bearing on my alternator was going so i replaced the alternator. the one i bought was doa. so after a $160 tow i got it home and got a newalternator. no my car just clicks. i see a small spark at the starter. so i bought a new one.

i got the bottom bolt out and i am working on the second one now. then the wires.

any tips on gdetting this out. i can see how to get the starter by the driveshaft or exhaust.

any pics or write up s.? i havent been able to find anything.

wait what? the bearing on your starter was going? so you replaced the alternator?

2 things wrong here.

1)the starter doesn't have a bearing
2) If you knew the problem was with the starter, why replace the alternator?

take your wires off first. the bolts are a pain to get to but not rocket science. i cant remember what i used but the starter had been out of my truck twice now and it wasnt hard.

Be patient for sure. The best thing to do upon reinstalling is to put only one bolt in loose, then get all your wires on, and once your sure everything is set, put all the bolts in and tighten.

i have done starters in other ford truck. but they were easily accsesible. this one looks i should be able to get to the 2 bolts easy....... but once the starter is loose i dont see how o get it out. there is the exhaist and driveshaft right there.

i never had a problem taking mine out. it did take awhile but it comes out. just move it around and tilt it and it should come right out
